It's trying a little too hard to set itself apart from Breaking Bad, by immediately making some decisions with the show's direction in the first two episodes that are strictly the opposite from what Walt would've done, and it becomes a little obvious that they don't want the show to be looked at as a BB clone.

There are some scenes that I watch and think to myself 'The Director wanted me to say, "Wow, this is brilliant." right here' instead of merely saying, "Wow, this is brilliant."

Overall it has a lot of strengths, and I'm looking forward to seeing Marty Byrde become the kingpin of Lake Ozark as he slowly buys up the whole town.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest weaknesses is Jason Bateman's acting. It isn't bad, and in fact, since he directs and produces the show, it is literally perfect for the character of Marty Byrde. His performance is strong and believable.

The problem is he always plays himself. Marty Byrde is, aside from the tone of a scene, indistinguishable from Michael Bluth. If I wasn't familiar with Bateman's career, this wouldn't be a problem at all, but the fact remains that every five minutes I half expect Will Arnett to glumly walk across the screen to The Sound of Silence.

I've only seen four episodes, so a score is pending, but thus far I can honestly recommend watching this show.
