Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!

Its October and that means the Playoffs for America's (and a Canadian team) pastime. I know I'm a little late making this thread but I figured I'd make it now before its REALLY too late. This season's playoffs are very interesting as we have teams who haven't made it the postseason in years. This year's World Series matchup will probably comprise of teams who haven't been there in years, possibly decades.

THE WORLD SERIES IS OVER

1. The World Series, Royals win series 4-1

I'm rooting for the Dodgers because that's my team.

Edit 1: Toronto wins game 3 in Texas and forces a game 4. Rangers still need to win one more game to advance. Houston wins game 3. Royals and Blue Jays still face elimination tomorrow.

Edit 2: Blue Jays come back and take both games in Texas. Next game in Toronto will decide the winner to advance to the ALCS. Both ALCS series are tied. These next games will decide the winners and they will face off in the ALCS.

Edit 3: Cubs explode and hit 6 homeruns against St Louis to take game 3. Cubs need to win one more game to advance.

Edit 4: Mets literally ass-rape the Dodgers in Game 3. Dodgers face elimination tomorrow in Game 4.

Edit 5: Cubs win their first postseason series since 2003. Cardinals are eliminated from the playoffs.

Edit 6: Dodgers stay alive and force a game 5 back in LA!

Edit 7: Blue Jays win their first postseason game at home since 1993. They eliminate the Rangers and advance to the ALCS.

Edit 8: Houston is eliminated by Kansas City. It will be Kansas City vs Toronto in the ALCS.

Edit 9: The motherfucking god damn sons-of-bitching Mets eliminate the Dodgers. It will be Chicago vs New York in the NLCS.

Edit 10: Kansas City shuts down the offensive juggernaut Blue Jays and takes Game 1 from Toronto in the ALCS. Kansas City needs to win 3 more games to advance to the World Series for the 2nd straight year.

Edit 11: Kansas City comes out strong to start the ALCS and takes Game 2 from the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays however were down 2 games in the ALDS and came back and won that series.

Edit 12: Mets take Game 1 from the Cubs. The Cubs send their potential Cy Young award winner to the mound tonight, Jake Arrieta.

Edit 13: The Mets take Game 2 from the Cubs. Daniel Murphy continues his tear in the postseason and knocks Jake Arrieta out of the game. Mets need to win 2 more games to advance to the World Series.

Edit 14: The Royals are 1 win away from returning to the World Series. Toronto is in danger of being eliminated tomorrow.

Edit 15: The Mets are 1 win away from the World Series. The Curse of the Billy Goat may be alive and well right now haunting the Chicago Cubs.

Edit 16: Royals fail to clinch World Series appearance in Toronto. Blue Jays win Game 5.

Edit 17: Mets sweep the Cubs! The Mets are in the World Series for the first time since 2000 when they lost to the cross-town rivals, New York Yankees.

Edit 18: Kansas City wins the ALCS! They will face the New York Mets in the World Series.

Edit 19: Kansas City quickly takes games 1 and 2 from the Mets. The Royals are 2 wins away from becoming world champs.

Edit 20: The Royals are one win away from winning the World Series!

Edit 21: The Royals are the 2015 World Series champions!

Holy shit Chase Utley.
That was a nasty slide, but you gotta do what you gotta do to prevent a double play.

Its a shame Tejeda got injured and I'm shocked that nothing happened to Utley.

"Slide" is a gracious term for that act of violence.

There's  difference between a play where you're breaking up a double play, and one where you're clrealy targeting the SS to injure him. 100% unsportsmanlike. The fact that not only was he not ejected, but also called safe after review, shows how broken the current rules are. We have rules protecting catchers, and they have protective gear on. Why not infielders who are unprotected?

But players ALWAYS slide like that into 2nd base. That's what you're supposed to do. It's basic base running. Runners will even slide into a shortstop or 2nd basemen who's nowhere near the base to stop a double play. I see it all the time!

The other day at the Toronto game, Josh Donaldson slid into 2nd base and got kneed in the face by the Texas shortstop and I think he prevented a double play by doing that. A few months ago, Pittsburgh alos lost their shortstop because a runner slid into 2nd base pretty hard. Not that many people said anything about these 2 incidents because it didn't happen to the Dodgers.

Last night, Tejeda should have NEVER turned his back on Utley because he runs really fast. Tejeda should have gotten the force out at 2nd and ran off to the side to protect himself from getting hurt for trying to get a double play. The game would have still been tied and who knows what would have happened in that inning.

Tejeda or Utley never touched the bag but the Ump called Utley out so of course he's not gonna touch the bag. When you're called out, you get off the field because that's kinda the rule.

My point is, is that this always happens in baseball and just because its the Dodgers and playoffs, people are overreacting about this.

If you disagree with Utley's slide, you know nothing about baseball.

Clean play. Clean Player.

Lets go Dodgers.

That's exactly the problem, an unsportsmanlike play such as that is legal in baseball. In any other sport, Utley would have been penalized/ejected. The fact Utley slid SO late shows he had no intention of sliding into the base, but rather to impact Tejada.

Its part of the game and has been for over 100 years. The catcher rule implemented was straight up definition of pussification of america.

Utley plays hard and plays the game the right way. Has done so his entire career.

The catcher rule was long overdue and resulted in a safer game. People shouldn't be getting season/career ending injuries as "part of the game"

That's some neanderthal thinking.

Many catchers have even spoke out against the Buster Posey rule. It makes a mockery of the game.

Having fewer plays that result in injury is a mockery of the game? This is baseball, not boxing.

A play at the plate was one of the most exciting plays in baseball. Now its just a joke.

If it results in fewer serious injuries and concussions, I'm ok with that. Longer, healthier careers for your players is fine with me.
