i've almost lost friends on numerous occasions over their drug usage, because that's how strongly i hate it

In the UK it's considered a Class B, meaning I can be put in prison for up to 5 years for possession (after a first time warning with no previous convictions IIRC), or 14 years for production/with intent to supply.

In Ireland it's a tad different, with a ~£1000-2000 fine and a year of prison for possession, or 14 years and a higher fine for supplying/production.

My personal stance is that it should be totally legalised and have some sort of tax added on to counter the effects of more serious drugs like alcohol and heroin addiction. Plus I really don't get all the fuss about it.

I just find the concept of inhaling and exhaling smoke to be gross, which sounds odd to a lot of people. It's your body though and you can do whatever you want with it as you please, my opinion means nothing.

The gateway argument is the most compelling one against legalization I can think of, but I combatting the drug trade probably takes precedence.

I've smoked plenty. From 'bobby brown' to 'knock you on your ass.' Gone though periods of smoking chronic every day (Ergo this alias, coined by NoNeckin) and times where I've quit for over a year.

Actually I have about a gram right now of some fruity smelling stuff, I just cant smoke it with this infection.

In Colorado where marijuana is legalized recreationally not only has the use of illegal drugs gone down, but their taxation on it has increased their economy.

I think PA just pushed some medical bill through the state congress... I think the new governor supports is so that should pass easily then

yeah, i knew that, but that's not quite enough for me and... basically 80% of my state

but i mean, whatever, i'd rather you smoke weed than inject heroin, but it's just the principle alone of altering your perception that i hate, especially when our neurochemistry is so volatile and fragile as it is--why would anyone want to fuck with it

Well technically your brain is under the influence of substances essentially always due to the things everyone ingests. (Food, drink, medicine, things absorbed through simple interaction with them, etc.) Of course, not all of them are psychoactive but It's still impossible to remain completely uninfluenced by substances when everything in nature is made of substances.

Essentially your brain's current state is the result of environmental conditioning. Even the genes that governed its makeup at birth were the result of the environmental conditioning of your ancestors.

Everything has an effect on your perception to some degree. I get why one might want to limit that effect, but it's good to understand the necessity of it.  If that influence didn't exist then your perception would have no conditioning and wouldn't have even manifested itself to begin with.

Cannabinoids have been shown to inhibit digestive motility.
