Why? There are so many better cartoons in this day and age. Why dwell on the past?

Desty already claimed the first meme, but there's to be no more memes after this thanks. Well standard memes like tbqh imho familá are still alright of course, just no topic-targeted memes.

But you're right, from the trailers these look pretty fucking intense, not for your average, run-of-the-mill kid that's for sure!
I agree with you. But I think the move from hand-drawn animation to digital has played a big part in this. Not to sound like a nostalgic new-world hippie or anything, but digital animation saps the 'life' out of cartoons I think. Just look at the new simpsons ffs, they all look like lifeless robots. And the scope thing you mentioned is all but lost too, you had cartoons that weren't afraid to tackle the big questions, like growing up. (Kids Next Door, Hey Arnold, etc.) But yeah, adventure time is the physical manifestation of reddit and tumblr. Looking at it is like staring at a 40 year old's MLP collection, I feel naught but sadness and quaint curiosity.
