Whatever that means, then I guess he's killed doing that.Also those summaries are awful, hope they aren't true.

A hand full of exhausted men managed to hold off thousands of them so an army of thousands should be able to hold off the entire White Walker army without a problem. They don't even have to worry about their comrades turning into wights since they have to be touched by a White Walker in order to join their army.

I wouldn't be surprised if they retcon that by showing that WW's just have to be present or nearby to raise wights.
