They're building blocks. That's it.
yeah

you can build anything you want out of them

that's all
"Anything"? No. You can make multicolored things with square edges.

And that's why I've never understood the Lego hype. Other brands of building blocks exist. Literally countless. Legos are the same. I guess the appeal is they're stronger and smaller? Still a pretty dumb reason that the franchise is an empire at this point.

You could say "We're atoms. That's it".

Ridiculously silly arguments.
Are you really comparing the many things that atoms can create and destroy to the very limited kinds of buildings you can make with rectangular blocks?

But you can make anything with lego. Jesus fuck.

Do you have ANY imagination?

What?? I'm talking about the physical design of a lego block. There are no rounded Legos. There are no "colored sets" of legos where it's all one color. Anything you build is going to be edged and flat, with a multitude of colors making it up.

man, those look amazing

i was a poor kid, so i never really got to build any of the bigger crazier models like those
Sucks, but the good thing about Bionicles was that even if you couldn't buy the more expensive ones, nothing stopped you from making your own to up the scale. As a kid I had my own universe of unique characters and stories that I'd always come back to whenever I played with them. I basically had a giant-ass narrative from my first Bionicle to my last.

Or I could go find a strong stick outside and not have to pay $40 to have a swordfight. And besides, playing with sticks is so much more fun. They can break, you can throw them as a distraction and then grab another one, you can dual wield two daggers, etc.

It's more about the adventure than the money.

Please get more defensive over a child's toy.

I say that I'm not a fan of Legos (not attacking anyone, just my opinion), and in turn everyone just shits over what I used to do as a kid. Calm down.

There are no rounded Legos.
There are, though... Granted, they can be kinda rare, but still.

You've never been to a Lego Land, apparently. Or a Lego shop. They have these dispensers everywhere that contain plenty of the same color brick. When I was young, I got a Lego Chewbacca keychain, but the one I picked up was missing one of its little Lego hands. When I brought it to the clerk, he was like, "Oh, no problem!" and I'm not even kidding you--he pulled out a cupboard underneath his desk that was filled with little brown Lego person hands, and popped the new hand on. It was hilarious. I still have the keychain around here somewhere.

But yeah, no, finding the right bricks is not a problem if you know where to go.
The Internet sure helps.

I mean, it's just not true, though. Only if you had a limited selection of bricks at your disposal would that be a problem.

OH SHIT

Did anyone else have that Bionicle wildlife book?

I remember getting it at a book fair when I was like six.

Basically, fans submitted their own Bionicle creatures, and they published a whole catalog of them with their own descriptions, habitats, and backstories. That shit was amazing. I'll see if I can find it.

See, I don't know about all of that...when I was a kid, I had two types of legos: the square ones and the rectangular ones. Like this. And I didn't like playing with them that much because it looked so ugly to build with. I would have houses and buildings and such, but they were multicolored and shit. I tried to separate my legos into the same color, but I wouldn't have enough to build a house that was all one color with maybe a different colored roof. When Bionicle came out, that was cool, but it was more an action figure than a lego. I've never even heard of Legoland, we just got ours at Big Lots.

That's a problem on your end - you could get bricks of the same colour for consistency. Also, what you linked isn't lego.

If you'd come visit the Mall of America in WI, there's a Lego shop there. On display is this bad boy:

Spoiler

This is made entirely of LEGO bricks. I've seen it with my own eyes.

Anyway, yeah, there's all sorts of weird bricks. All different shapes and sizes.
Like these
and these
and these
and many more

And yeah, they make them in every color in the rainbow.

Fine, better? I can't distinguish between Legos and Lego knockoffs when I'm browsing Google Images. The point is that they were blocks when I was a kid. I wasn't into them. Sue me.

Why everyone is freaking out over the fact that I don't like some toy is beyond me.
