My vinyl collection just exploded.

So my Dad, being the swell guy he is, and noticing my growing interest in vinyl, took the day to rummage through his old stuff only to find about 4 milk crates full of his old records. He said I could take what I wanted, and I sure fucking did.

List of Full Collection

Can you guess which ones were mine and which were my dad's? The crazy thing is, what I actually took from his collection barely made a dent in it. There's still roughly 3 and a half crates full of this stuff. Thx Dad, u rock.

I suppose, but vinyl offers a different sound than something you'd get on a CD.

But even if it didn't I'd still buy the records. There's just something attractive about the blown-up album art and difficulty of skipping songs... Trent said it best on his website.

That's all I needed to make the switch, because I knew exactly what he was talking about... not necessarily the warmth of the sound or the needle drop, but the not being able to skip songs bit... that was a huge thing for me while collecting tapes. There's just something surreal about understanding an album when you're not rushing through to your favourite songs. It's far more rewarding. And unlike cassettes, vinyl is still alive and kicking for the most part.

Do to dampening compression and a few other factors, vinyls do sound "warmer".

The most accurate format fidelity-wise tho is CD or FLAC.

Yeah, FLAC is awesome. When I bought the new NIN stuff I downloaded the FLAC files, it was something like 3.4 GB, whereas the MP3 files in total were like 300Mgb (if that.)
