Below is a summary I wrote last May regarding what I think the rumored Boba Fett film should be like, I thought it'd make an interesting discussion.
Quote
You might've heard that there's a Boba Fett film that may or may not be made some day, and I thought that it would be an interesting topic of discussion.

I personally think it could be quite good, but only if done right.
The film shouldn't be a stupid action movie, it shouldn't be a thriller. No, it should be the side of Star Wars that, in my opinion, Boba Fett embodies.

It should be a Western.
I've always seen Boba Fett as the Clint Eastwood of Star Wars, a Man With No Name type character. Thus, I feel that a Space-Western-type film would be best suited for Fett. There shouldn't be a bunch of mindless explosions and such. Rather, there should be extremely tense scenes leading up to brief, but very intense shootouts. Like a stand-off in, well, a Western, or like the scene where Han shoots Greedo.

Now, we move on to the man himself. Now, he'd obviously have to be a bit more talkative than in the original trilogy, as he was merely a side character in those films. He should still be a man of few words, but he should have a lot of wit, delivered in a deadpan manner. However, there is something more interesting regarding Fett that is being considered by filmmakers: killing him.

What's being discussed is as follows: the actual Boba Fett, clone of Jango, is killed by a mysterious stranger, who then takes the title for himself. This would restore the mystery surrounding the character that I personally feel was lost upon his backstory being revealed in AoTC.
I'm all for this, but only under one condition: This would have to occur in between Revenge of The Sith and A New Hope. It has to be explained that this new guy is the Boba Fett we all know and love, not some Maori kid.

Furthermore, Fett's harsh moral code should be retained as well. Fett is noted to only take jobs that fit this code of honor. In addition, Fett is very puritanical regarding women. I think it goes without saying that Boba Fett would be ruined for all of us if we saw him banging space prostitutes.

Finally, we come to Boba Fett's position on the Good/Evil scale. Fett is no saint, but he's not evil either. He should still be likable in his own badass way. Thus, I think he should be on the darkest edge of neutral. Essentially, he should be a man "just trying to make his way in the universe."

That sums up my opinions on a possible Boba Fett film. Do you guys agree with my points, or do you have something entirely different in mind? Discuss.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

So, make the character we're supposed to like or care about being some random ass that kills the clone "son" of the most infamous Bounty Hunter in the galaxy, and then goes around parading to be him? How is that not supposed to make me want to see this guy paraded around by his entrails?

I'm not saying he's a bad character, he's just really overrated...like Wolverine or Deadpool.

Wasn't my idea, I just stated the idea, then proceeded to state my thoughts. I don't know, I personally don't like his prequel backstory. I feel that it takes away his uniqueness. Whilst I like the clone troopers, I feel that the "clone son" backstory didn't do much good for the character.

Also, it's important to note that this new guy would go on to become the most infamous bounty hunter, not the clone.

Boba Fett is overrated.

And this makes a potential film a bad idea... how? If a film gives them a chance to expand his character, then what's the problem?

How did it to any harm then? He's still the son of the biggest BA Bounty Hunter in the galaxy, and follows in his father's footsteps while still choosing his own path.

But ignore that he's the clone of his dad. He grows up being trained by his father to be a Bounty Hunter like him, but when he's still young he's forced to watch his dad decapitated before his very eyes and from that point on has to fend for himself his entire life. What's wrong to that story?

I don't have a problem with that backstory, but the mystery behind the character, one of his defining characteristics before the prequels, was completely lost. Even if they pursued the "Badass is son of badass" background, they could've been more subtle than they were. Make Boba Jango's actual son, and don't show his face. That way, there's no need to dub over his lines in the Original Trilogy and the character remains mysterious in at least one regard.

The whole point is to give backstory and expand his character with a movie, right? What's wrong with a really small part of that already being done? Yes, he's mysterious, but having him appear in a few scenes as a kid in Episode II doesn't remove the mystery from him. We don't know what he's like, how he's become, how he survived all those years on his own, etc. Y'know, stuff that actually defines his character.

As for the line dubbing, that's just Lucas being a dumbshit like usual. There's plenty of Clones of Fett that had a wide range of voices. Voice isn't genetic, it's based on what you're used to hearing then you mimic it.

Whilst I like Boba Fett most of all, IG-88 is pretty damn cool. I like that some EU works depicted Fett and IG-88 as sort of competing for the title of "#1 Hunter." Like Arch-Enemies, almost. Pure badassery and tuition vs. Mechanized efficiency and complete lack of ethics.

If IG-88 has more of a presence in new media, I hope they make him almost scary. His body, for a droid designed for combat, is a bit thin, but I think they could capitalize on this by making him a terrifying, unstoppable killing machine. A true adversary for Fett.

They could make heavy visual use of his multiple eyes, making them the only light sources visible in a dark environment, constantly moving, looking around. Add some vibro-blades to that formula and you got a pretty scary droid.

He scared the shit out of me in Shadows of the Empire. In a New Republic-era Commando game I could see him being a viable and downright terrifying antagonist.

Yeah, I know that the voice dub is just Lucas being dumb, but you at least understand what I'm saying, right? I'm not a prequel hater in the slightest, I'm just a bit disappointed as to how Lucas handled his backstory.

I still do not get what is possibly wrong with his backstory. He's orphaned at a young age, struggles his life, and makes his way to be one of the greatest Bounty Hunters in the galaxy. The clone thing means jack-diddly-squat. How that is thought of as an issue or problem is beyond me.

That's it, though. We know his backstory now. We didn't before, it was a mystery as to what his story was, his motivations, etc. Now, we know exactly what drives him, what he looks like, etc. And to top it all off, Lucas is a dumbass who thinks accents are hereditary, so Boba Fett won't sound this badass anymore.

Before, there were multiple tales as to what exactly were his origins, and we could speculate as to what exactly were his origins. Now, we know practically everything.

Except the voice has changed before, and it can change again. Nothing is set in stone. Look at that stupid '08 TCW series and the metric fuckton of changes they made to lore to justify their shitty story. If a shitty series can do it, then a good movie has more than every right to.

Oh, you know everything? Knowing what a man looks like tells you his entire life story, does it? After he was orphaned, what happened to him? We don't know. Exactly how did he cope with his father's death? We don't know. Did he keep a grudge against Jedi ever since his dad's death? We don't know. How is he psychologically? We don't know.

So, we know what he looks like, and we know that his father was a renowned Bounty Hunter and when Boba was young he watched his father die and was orphaned. That's a pretty basic back story leaving for tons of ways to go with it. He's still a mysterious figure that we still know very little about.

What's being discussed is as follows: the actual Boba Fett, clone of Jango, is killed by a mysterious stranger, who then takes the title for himself. This would restore the mystery surrounding the character that I personally feel was lost upon his backstory being revealed in AoTC.
So, make the character we're supposed to like or care about being some random ass that kills the clone "son" of the most infamous Bounty Hunter in the galaxy, and then goes around parading to be him? How is that not supposed to make me want to see this guy paraded around by his entrails?
Wasn't my idea, I just stated the idea, then proceeded to state my thoughts. I don't know, I personally don't like his prequel backstory. I feel that it takes away his uniqueness. Whilst I like the clone troopers, I feel that the "clone son" backstory didn't do much good for the character.

Yeah, I know that the voice dub is just Lucas being dumb, but you at least understand what I'm saying, right? I'm not a prequel hater in the slightest, I'm just a bit disappointed as to how Lucas handled his backstory.

Hey, there's no need to cease being civil and adopt a hostile tone. I was merely stating my thoughts on the matter. You and I have agreed on many things in the past, there's no need to stop being pleasant over a disagreement regarding the backstory of a fictional character.

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

That wasn't hostile. It was sarcastic bordering on "are you fuckin' serious right now?". If I get hostile I start posting WH40k pics.

Can you address the points, though, plz?

I really don't want to continue debating this. Can't we agree to disagree?

OK, I know you despise TCW with a burning passion unmatched by the sun itself, but TCW states that yes, he does. Even without that show, it could be reasonably deduced that he does.

See my response regarding how he coped with his father's death.

If you want to stop, we can stop. Doesn't matter because it'll still seem like a silly point to me.

You have to realize that's an incredibly unfounded statement, right? What's there to say that he didn't try to find some more stable way of living after seeing how horrible a business it is after watching his dad die right in front of him.

Canon can be rewritten if it proves necessary. We knew very little about his mentality in Episode II, we know even less of it afterwards. I think it could be a plausible and interesting arc to show him go from hatred and disdain of them, thinking he's avenging his father, but then Boba coming to realize that it's accomplished nothing and the people he's taken it out on aren't responsible for his problems, and they're victims of the war too.
