Like if 2020 played out the same way but with no corona virus, what would that look like?  What would be altered the least/most?

Hmm...
I'd be working in the office instead of at home. Wouldn't be wearing a mask while out and about. Not too much different for me, since I've always been a shut-in.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Would've had a lot more money by not being furloughed, but wouldn't have had time to apply for uni and wouldn't be in Scotland rn.

No I mean like what would the world look like differently

I think the whole rioting thing couldve started an actual revolution if corona hadnt come across

even before corona came along  we had this end of the world vibe, social unrest thing going on. like a hot boiling kettle, we had really high tensions about race and black lives matter and all that

so my theory is that we were headed a bad way and then this deadly new virus comes along, it's like we have to band together to beat this sickness. The virus itself may have restored social order if that makes any sense

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
Floyd protests probably would have been a little smaller on the national scale of everyone weren't cooped up for months and unemployed from the shutdowns tbh

those protests couldve led to something even bigger if we didnt have the corona virus to be afraid of

the enthusiasm of a social revolution dissipates upon the discovery of a chaotic virus, which makes sense - people want order and normalcy now more than ever

nah das is right

people didn’t have the responsibilities that might have otherwise kept them from getting involved and the concern for covid was overwhelmingly pretty low at the time. i assume most of the people that would have wanted to get involved probably did.

edit: also because there wasn't anything else going on, the issue was way more in-your-face than it would have been otherwise

Pros: would be travelling abroad twice or three times a month
Cons: Working from the office, living with that land-lord.

As a student, I can say that students across the country either sank or swam during this period. For me, I kinda did both. In terms of learning, I absolutely sank. We have professors trying to explain how to calculate convection rates of various liquids through a 144p webcam and a mic pulled straight from an MW2 lobby. I'm also taking a surveying class where it's vital we go out into the field to set up equipment and actually survey a physical area. Instead, the professor does the surveying for us, gathers all the data, and sometimes we literally just upload the data they gathered back to them for a 1OO. Im not learning shit. In terms of grades however, they're offering everyone the opportunity to change grading to pass/fail so it can't negatively affect your GPA. Also most tests are easier and open notes. And since assignments are online there's more opportunity to uh find answers elsewhere. So it's a weird thing where I'll end up having a higher GPA while at the same time learning less. But a lot of people need that face to face component even if it's same material so a lot of people aren't doing well. I don't know anybody that's actively benefiting from learning online. It's either worse or about the same.

My brothers in high school have it worse. They're teenagers and need that social interaction that comes from high school. I mean my brother is spending senior year online. That's fucking terrible. So kids around the world are definitely having a huge blow to their development. Also college professors are better at operating technology than high school boomer teachers. These teachers can't even full screen a youtube video and now they're in charge of designing an entire course online. Not to mention they're not getting the support they need because everyone thinks this is temporary. It is temporary but they haven't invested anything in terms of material the teachers need to effectively teach.

So by the end of this thing at least a whole year of children and college students' time would have been wasted and I'm really concerned for the mental health and development of younger kids who need to be with others

oh I see what you guys are saying now, that makes sense

pretty much the virus gives people less responsibilities and more free time to do these protest stuff

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
I'd probably have a job that uses my degree instead of doing part time dingus shit and drinking constantly

Can't say since nothing much happened here. I'd still be camped out working double jobs. Maybe would've found sandtrap's grave a little faster since it was an absolute bitch to search up contacts and then plan when I'd travel to it, but that's about it.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
I had plans to go to so many baseball and football games this year so fuck corona for taking that from me. I miss high-fiving random strangers every time my team scores and heckling the other team's players.

My best friend was also in a toxic and mentally abusive relationship with this girl that is the physical incarnation of Satan. My friend who was always cheerful and liked being around others slowly turned into a depressed hermit when he met this girl and dug himself a hole that he couldn't get out of. We used to always hang out literally almost every weekend but he couldn't because he was afraid of her and what she'd do and would always make excuses. There was one day where my friends and I weren't going to let this happen anymore so we stepped in and helped get him out of this relationship. It took time but we freed him. We got our friend back and it was short lived because this motherfucking virus happened. This time his mom was super paranoid about this and didn't let him leave the house for anything at all. My friends and I were right back where we started basically trying to free him.

In a alternate timeline my friends and I are hanging out every weekend, traveling to places, going to concerts, going to baseball games, and going to football games enjoying our lives. We're doing our best to do what we could during this time we're currently in.

I feel like the Presidential Elections would've gone just about as smoothly as they are now, if that's a consideration.
