Must-watch Documentaries

I recently watched two documentaries that my friend said he believes every person should see. These documentaries bring up issues that not many people seem to be aware of so I would recommend them to you guys.

-Plastic Paradise
-Last Call at the Oasis

Plastic Paradise is about the overabundance of plastic in the pacific ocean that doesn't degrade and Last Call at the Oasis covers many issues involving shortages of drinking water around the world. Both are available on Netflix.

If anyone has any suggestions of documentaries or videos like this, post them below and I'll check them out.

I always find Michael Moore's work to be incisive and thought-provoking.

edit: ok im probably not being fair. ill admit that i liked bowling for columbine, but i think theres something fundamentally wrong with his approach. he's extremely biased and reluctant to fairly represent "the other side" in his films. always irked me.

that said, the last great documentary i've seen was citizenfour
and my favorite documentary of all time is zeitgeist (keep in mind what i literally just said though)

It was about the effects captivity has on Orca Whales and just how dangerous they can be with trainers. Three people have been killed by just one captive Orca.

I can't think of the proper term, stuff like the mermaid one but less farfetched. A bit like found footage stuff <.<

But yeah if it's not one that's just making a mountain out of a molehill to get viewers then I think I'll log into the yank netflix and watch it soon >.>

I was watching a History Channel one about that British SS unit in WW2. The thing about is that even though the majority or all of these British SS troops joined it to get out of torture or harsh living conditions. The episode made it seem like they joined up because they believed in the Nazi ideology and it seemed like it was condemning them for it. Instead of it being about history it's just some "You were in the SS so therefor you're an asshole" type of thing.

Speaking of being biased there's also that Dogfight series the History Channel had. There were never any episodes for the Germans, just the US and our allies. Also WW2 in HD is a US circlejerk. God forbid it has people for the Russian, German, Jap, Italian and others point of view.

Really good. This is the difference between the shitty doco's they make on the history channel ect. these days and a bona fide documentary. And John Romer knows history.
