I hate documentaries. They're usually ridiculously biased.
I was watching a History Channel one about that British SS unit in WW2. The thing about is that even though the majority or all of these British SS troops joined it to get out of torture or harsh living conditions. The episode made it seem like they joined up because they believed in the Nazi ideology and it seemed like it was condemning them for it. Instead of it being about history it's just some "You were in the SS so therefor you're an asshole" type of thing.

Speaking of being biased there's also that Dogfight series the History Channel had. There were never any episodes for the Germans, just the US and our allies. Also WW2 in HD is a US circlejerk. God forbid it has people for the Russian, German, Jap, Italian and others point of view.

The entire premise of WW2 HD (if it's the documentary I'm thinking of) is that they gathered up all of the color footage and out it into a TV series that followed 4 American vets that were still alive from beginning to end.

Most off the color footage from WW2 was shot from the American side. There are only a few from the German side and none that I've heard of that came from the Italians or Japanese.
