Movies today are shit

Special effects do not equal plot or character development. If the character is only shown during a fight, it is not development. A plot isn't a simple narrative giving excuse after excuse for fight scenes. Horror movies shouldn't rely on simple jump scares and gore to be scary. Use identifiable characters, and move them from a normal, relatable scenario to the unbelievable. Instead of just jumping in. Use tension.

Story writers today suck.

Every period has shit tier movies. That's a fact. The 80's relied too heavily on gore for horror and muscle bound guys quipping one liners for action.

It just seems like 4 out of 5 movies today are absolute shit, compared to the 2 out of 5 it was just 20 years ago.

And don't get me started on all of the unnecessary remakes, reboots and sequels.

The only difference is advertisement. For every blockbuster there were 10-20 imitations that are fun to watch because they're so hilariously amateur. Ever watch ROTOR? Hands of Steel?

I will agree though. I realized it during Jurassic World. It seems like movies these days always need to have something going on. Like, there can never be a slow build up or any kind of lull in the story, or else the audience might lose interest mid movie and leave.
