The ISS has 10mb right now, and will soon have around 500. How does it feel?

Haha I didn't know that, that's pretty funny too actually. Because it's faster than me now right now let alone at 500

I think it's too early. Why make colonies on Mars when we could go to the Moon?

Well you see there is three reasons why Mars is a better candidate for colonization over the Moon.

Number 1:
The atmosphere is much thicker and "Earth-like" than the Moon on Mars. In fact it used to have oceans on it's surface and possibly was very much like Earth. However because it's smaller than Earth it cooled much quicker. (Basically the molten core cooled due to it being smaller. Earth might face a similar problem eventually.) So Mars cooled and the magnetic field protecting it from Solar Wind dissipated. Due to this Mars' oceans froze (due to this if we could somehow warm up Mars a few degrees we could potentially revive it ) and the atmosphere blew away for the most part. Anyway in short; Mars is a much easier rock to make "Earth-like."

Number 2:
It is much easier to land rockets on Mars due to it's gravity, atmosphere, etc. It's just generally a better spot to land.

Number 3:
Setting up colonies would be much more productive there due to the frozen oceans and the possibility of frozen microbial life in those oceans. Not to mention it is entirely possible there is live microbial life in underground water pools. Soooo that would be a huge discovery and a big leap forward in our understanding of life outside of Earth.

There are still many issues plaguing us in our quest to colonize Mars but we're slowly and surely getting there. 

Realistically, humans are likely going to visit the Moon again before we make our way to Mars.

Mars, however, is obviously a more interesting body to research as opposed to the Moon.

Because, like, organic compounds and junk.
