Been stuck on a deadlift plateau for about a month. Barely hit 475 on my last max day, after a 455 max. Currently doing a linear program, and I've been struggling to finish my working sets each week, typically only being able to get half of them. The bar just won't even leave the ground, even though I know I can do the weight. Neither bench nor squats are giving me the same problem.

Deloads haven't made a difference. I just feel fucking exhausted after my first two sets. Thoughts?

Why would you need to deadlift so much to begin with?

Deadlifts are one of the most important exercises to perform because of the full-body strength it builds, and constant improvement is key to becoming stronger and staying fit.

475 isn't really all that much, either.

Your version of "staying fit" is far different.

???

Dropping heavy deadlifts damages the floor and will get you thrown out of any gym or meet.

No lifting federation judges a dropped deadlift as a valid rep, but regardless, any thoughts on the issue of plateauing?

Honestly I just push through. Might take a while but you'll get through eventually.

There's all kinds of different shit people try but they never worked for me. Take a week off deadlift and try after.

The weights I lift involve turning pressurised valves in order to seperate well fuids into that oh so valuable oil.

They can be pretty hard to turn at times. Builds muscle

Deload. Your body/cns etc is probably exhausted and linear progression isn't gonna help you recover especially if it's close to your 1rm. Deadlifts are fucking physically TAXING, I could do an entire workout of just deadlifts and feel dead in my entire body the next day.

I'm not too good at powerlifting stuff so I'm not sure how I'd work in a Deload into your program. Usually they're like 50% of 1rep max for reps and lots of stretching foam rolling etc.

Also you can strengthen your muscles with accessory lifts, I recently started glute bridges (the ones where you lay on a bench with a barbell over your groin and hump the air) for glutes and I love them. All my lower body lifts went up 25-40lbs because of stronger glutes.

475 is really good btw brah, your rating scale is a little skewed because you see guys with insane deadlifts but remember to the average person nearly 500lbs is superhuman
