I like hugs and making the world a better place. That and guns. Lots and lots of guns.
I did, but no lasting changes happened other than Korra getting PTSD. Nobody really significant died other than the bad guys and the earth queen. They led us to believe otherwise, but lied to us in the following episodes. I wanted Tenzin and that one kid to actually die. The only shit that hit the fan was uneventful to say the least. If anything, Amon in season one was a hell of a lot more intimidating than season 3.

I'm just surprised that they even gave motion to someone dying, even the bad guys, when the original stayed away from that idea for so long. Having main characters die, or even having anyone die, doesn't make a series any better or more "Mature". It's like putting a sex scene in a movie, it only garners minor appeal to picky people who don't understand what "Mature" content is. IMO Korra dealing with PTSD is a lot more mature than anyone dying as it is an issue that people can legitimately relate to, and it isn't often expounded upon by mainstream entertainment.
I just feel that without a major character dying, and everything else essentially ending up all fine and dandy after each predicament is as if nothing significant happened at all other some social or technological leaps forward or backward. It's the same cycle over and over again with no real loss on the part of the main characters. A villain arises, there is a big ending fight that changes something significant, but the villain ultimately loses or dies.

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

The amount of times I've heard "Go. We got this", and then no real problems happening at all is indeed really annoying. No real suspense, you know they're going to win without a hitch. Only real suspense was when Tenzin got BTFO, but again Team Avatar came in and went "We got this" like usual.

I get where you're coming from.

Yeah. I mean we could at least get some lasting physical damage on some of the main characters. Like if Bolin lost an eye or something like that and had to wear an eye patch, that would be awesome, but no. The most we get from the characters is a change in wardrobe and hairstyle.

Not enough precedence for Kuvira to suddenly flip like that and have "reeducation camps", slavery, megalomania, et cetera.

There needed to be more build up if they were going to do this. They needed to show her slipping into it gradually, not the instant on like a light switch transition she had. I guess they realized they had written character that would be hard for people to actually hate so they had to go full Hitler with her instantly so she'd be the easily recognizable bad guy.

It would have been much better if Korra had to go up against Kuvira in some morally ambiguous dilemma with no right or wrong answer.

The reason it made sense though is because zhao fu or however you spell was the first city that didn't give in, so of course it's a completely different story in which kuvira has to show a different side of her.

So re-education camps, slavery, megalomania (which was shown before they even reached metal land),  et cetra are all resulting from metal land not wanting to join? No, they're just trying to hard to turn her into the big bad and are destroying what could have been an engaging story for this black and white dichotomy shit that's been done thousands of times before.

Her attempting to take metal land would not be part of this instant light switch flip she's gone through. That shit was totally expected before hand and was well within the realm of her previous character as she stated multiple times that she was going to unite the entirety of the earth kingdom again.

This is especially jarring when you take into account that Kuvira is supposed to be the old Korra. I don't know about you, but I think that even if the old Korra wouldn't be supporting "reeducation camps", slavery, indentured servitude, and the creation of super weapons that would be extremely dangerous if they fell into the wrong hands.
