Watching Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works again, and I just caught onto something

So how the hell does Shirou suddenly learn Rho Aias while fighting Gilgamesh?

The only other time it was used was when Archer EMIYA used it against Lancer and he never saw that even happen.

Didn't he know next to no magic much less some god-mode shield spell that resists noble phantasms?

Did I miss something?

Archer projected the first Rho Aias that protected Shirou from enuma elish and it's actually stated in the anime that shirou is absorbing some of the skill and knowledge from his future self every time their blades clash.
