Tenuous science is better than magic.

'Sufficiently advanced technology is indistiguishable from magic'-Arthur C. Clarke.Also. The Battles of Coruscant, Utapau and Geonosis and the Order 66 scene were amazing, as well as evrything about Darth Maul.
But Star Wars isn't sci-fi so the space magic explanation was perfectly feasible.Besides, all that explanation did was show why certain people are force sensitive, it didn't explain how the midi-chlorians worked, and really doesn't bring anything worthwhile from it's inclusion. There's nothing good about it nor is there really anything bad. It's just kinda there...
"HURR REMEMBER HOW THE FORCE WAS THAT MAGICAL ETHEREAL ENTITY THAT BOUND THE UNIVERSE TOGETHER? LEL JK, ITS ACTUALLY SPACE BACTERIA."
