Both of them are pretty cute, but they each have glaring flaws; one being boring as sin and the other a total Mary Sue. Quote from: Luciana on December 20, 2016, 07:23:33 PMShe wasn't even that cute. I personally thought Rey was cuter in a nerdy sort of way.

My entire argument for that though is one's acting is actually so well that it transcends the rather meh writing regarding her character, where as the other one is still boring as sin.

In regards to RLM, I can respect their opinion and understand if they don't like it, but their RO Prequels review really rubbed me the wrong way. It felt like they were just shitting all over anyone who enjoyed the film
Did anyone else find Vader's pun groan worthy? I've been trying to figure out why I basically cringed at it, when he does joke a fair amount in all the other films. So I compared some of his other jokes lines;YouTubeto his Rogue One line (link will probably get copyright claimed);YouTubeAnd I dunno, I can't really put my finger on it. I think it's because it's like a self referential joke, something a fan would say but shouldn't actually be put to film. "Wouldn't it be cool if Darth Vader thought his choking ability was totally epic and funny?" It'd be like if the Emperor made some pun about Luke finding it "shocking" how much it hurt being electrified by him
Rey is not a Mary Sue, let alone a "total" one.
A Mary Sue is an idealized and seemingly perfect fictional character, a young or low-rank person who saves the day through unrealistic abilities
I hate how Wookieepedia defaults to the Legends section and not the Canon section when looking shit up there.bitter EU fags die
>She is incredibly adapt at the force despite having zero training (Her connection to the Skywalker family if there even is one is meaningless as Luke still needed some guidance from Ben) to the point of being able to mind trick a stormtrooper despite zero experience in doing such. >Manages to save Finn from tentacle rape with knowledge of the stations door controls despite never being on such a ship and only wandering for broken scraps of metal all her life. >Can go toe to toe with Kylo Ren in a lightsaber duel despite having never used a lightsaber before and Kylo was trained by Luke fucking Skywalker, the only hero in the OT that bested Vader.
At least Luke fucking sucked at everything[...] and got fucking destroyed by Vader in V.

If it was just "be careful not to choke on your aspirations Director" delivered in his usual tone, that would've been better. Instead it was "be careful not to choke on your aspirations", which wasn't Vader's usual style.
>when people in their 20s refer to ANH as simply "Star Wars"i bet you feel so fucking authentic
Try giving this a read.
Not a fair comparison, because that's movie #2 of the OT. TFA is movie #1, so it's only reasonable to compare Rey to the Luke we know from ANH. Where he displayed some Mary Sue-like tendencies as well--on top of being an annoying brat.

Gary Stu
Don't do this.

I think it's just people are looking for an excuse to dislike the movie. If you cringe at "Don't choke on your aspirations", you should also cringe at "I find your lack of faith disturbing."
also, AotC has a lot of what i'd consider some of the best scenes in the entire franchise and i'm not being ironic
Why those scenes specifically? Like what makes those stand out to you?
