Last commentI like how they made the AT-AT's more into the juggernauts they're supposed to be. Hoth didn't really do them the right amount of justice.

They had more armor but less firepower than the ones on Hoth. And how were the Hoth ones not doing any justice? They were shooting those super fast snowspeeders out of the sky and destroyed that Rebel base. I think only 2 AT-ATs were destroyed in that attack whereas in Rogue One they were getting destroyed left and right.

I have a distinct feeling that in an upcoming film, a certain helmeted fanboy is going to visit the castle we saw in this movie.

I didn't even see the trailer or read anything about it prior to seeing it.Best way to watch movies, tbh

Yeah it was especially hard to care about the deaths in this movie. This was no saving private Ryan.
So I forgot to ask peopleI mentioned that I felt most of the movie was pretty boring (though the ending was one of the most intense moments I think I've seen in any movie), but I think I know whyRey in episode 7 was written rather... not so amazing, yes, but the actress Daisy Ridley did a fantastic job with her charisma and all that, thus making her acceptable. Plus I'm forgiving since it's the start of a trilogy, so they'll flesh her out more. Anyway, anyone else feel that the Jyn (main girl) was just... dull? Like a lot of the characters. I guess it was the direction they took since bleak, Saving Private Ryan tier kinda thing, but still. I just found it hard to care about really ANY of them, especially the other main guy Cassian Andor (especially since he straight up murders someone). I just... did not feel a thing for this guy at all.And another thing, why did Forest Whitaker say he was tired of running, like he'd stand up to a big bad evil, when it was just a massive explosion? I'd understand it more if he was facing down a lot of Storm Troopers or something and went HAM before dying, but eh. I'm echoing too much of RLM, but the boring movie/boring characters thing is something I've really always felt.I felt the only stand out people were Chirrut Îmwen (I am the Force guy. I actually enjoyed his mysticism in an otherwise bleak universe. Like he was the flicker of hope, a reminder of what was lost, and what could be found), Orson Krennic, and I guess the Droid. Yeah, the droid. I only felt a flicker of something when those guys actually kicked the bucket, because they at least had some pretty interesting personalities to them, even if one was just the comic relief.

It did do that entire final stretch amazingly if you ask me. It was just the build up to it was sooooooooooooooooo long

SPR had a lot of character development that allowed you to care about the people on screen, this movie falls short of that goal.
The characters were definitely the most underwhelming part, yeah, but I thought Jyn was all right (it helps that she's a qt).I think they were receptive to the Mary Sue complaints of Rey (she's not a Mary Sue but w/e) by giving Jyn a lot of obvious character flaws and having her outright make a dumb, human mistake during one part: in her stupor of seeing her father again, she failed to retrieve the hologram when she absolutely needed to.
