Item #: SCP-2726

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2726 is to be kept in a secure storage locker at Site 15. Access requires level 3 clearance. Personnel acessing SCP-2726 are required to record all interactions with SCP-2726-1 and SCP-2726-2.

Description: SCP-2726 is a standard DVD of the 2007 animated film Bee Movie. The DVD case is slightly damaged and shows no anomalous properties. The disc itself opens immediately to the main menu when played, but instead of the standard options, only "Play Movie" and "Special Feature" can be selected. The special feature selection opens to a blank still of the film with nothing but an option to go back to the main menu.

When the play movie option is selected, SCP-2726 behaves identically to a mundane copy of Bee Movie, except in one instance. At the 31:02 minute mark, a scene begins in the interior of an apartment. In a standard copy of the film, the protagonist, an American honeybee, must evade assaults from a male named "Ken" until a female named "Vanessa" saves him, while a television set in the distant background displays a football game. This scene is exactly the same in the case of SCP-2726, except the animated football game is replaced by SCP-2726-1, a live-action human male pounding on the screen of the television. See Report Log 2726-A.

Discovery: Recovered from a Cape May pawn shop following word-of-mouth spread of a "haunted movie". Amnesiacs deemed unnecessary, instead story of a pirated DVD that was hacked was given to the public as an explanation.

Report Log 2726-A
Report: 1

Personnel: Dr. S████

Description: Verified anomalous properities of SCP-2726 and the existence of SCP-2726-1, which did nothing but pound on the animated televsion set and cry for the duration of the scene. During the scene, SCP-2726-1 is only visible when the television set is in the frame, a total of 23 seconds. Due to this, and the fact that the animated television set is in the distant background of the apartment, identification of SCP-2726-1 may prove difficult. Also notable is that the fast forward, rewind, and pause functions are disabled.

Report: 2

Personnel: Dr. S████

Description: Attempts made to visibly communicate with SCP-2726-1, both with sign language and mouthing words. Subject seems unable or unwilling to communicate. Subject continues to merely cry and pound on the animated television set, as if trying to break it, but in a manner non-identical to Report 1. This implicates SCP-2726 as a sapient being.

Report: 3

Personnel: Dr. S████

Description: SCP-2726 is played in an HP Pavilion laptop. Attempted to contact SCP-2726-1 in a manner congruent with Report 2, but with the added benefit of a webcam. Subject again didn't notice my presence. However, as my physical motions became more erratic, the second differentiation from the standard film occured as film character "Vanessa" glanced toward the laptop screen for one and a half seconds. This marks the first appearance of SCP-2726-2.

Report: 4

Personnel: Dr. S████

Description: SCP-2726 is again played in an HP Pavilion laptop, now with both webcam and microphone enabled. SCP-2726-1 is successfully contacted with the use of microphone, visibly reacting to my voice. To confirm potency of this method, I instructed SCP-2726-1 to raise both hands in the air, and he quickly did.

The first major deviation from the script of the movie happened here, as the animated character of Vanessa, hereby referred to as SCP-2726-2, looked at the laptop screen and glared right at me. It said "that's not fair", and shifted from its original positioning in the movie by standing directly in front of the animated television set for the rest of the scene. No other deviations from the film followed, and the other animated characters made no mention of SCP-2726-2's line.

Report: 5

Personnel: Dr. S████

Description: Same parameters as Report 4. Once the scene started, SCP-2726-1 instantly rose both arms above its head and started mouthing indistinguable words. Subject appears to be incapable of speech. I asked the subject to display how many months it had been there using its fingers and it held up eight.

SCP-2726-2 again stood in front of the animated television set after this, and neglected to say any of its lines, instead silently glaring at the laptop screen. Other characters talked and replied to SCP-2726-2 anyway, and the film still cut and panned as it typically would. Before the scene changed, SCP-2726-2 stated "Stop looking at me."

Further viewings of SCP-2726 are temporarily forbidden.

See, I was just expecting a meme SCP once I started reading it was about Bee Movie. But when I actually imagined someone watching the film and seeing that person banging against the screen it was kind of unnerving, which made the entire experience uncanny.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.

I think it's the appeal of being part of something greater and contributing to it. I'd only be half as interested in writing creepypasta-like material if it couldn't be part of the SCP-Wiki visited by thousands of people. Not that I ever was very interested in that in the first place.

The popularity of SCP probably also was boosted by Youtubers - or maybe solely Pewds - playing the fan made game.
