So if you're even thinking about upgrading to it, Upgrade and extract the product key now, then go back to whatever version of Windows you were on if you still feel shady as fuck about Windows 10, at least this way when you're eventually forced to upgrade, you at least won't have to shell out $150-$200 for Windows 10.

Windows 7 loses support from Microsoft right at the beginning of 2020, so you at least still have time if you're on Windows 7. I am uncertain when Windows 8 or 8.1 will lose their support, so you can hang onto them until you decide you wanna upgrade.

Also, I wouldn't even think to consider using Windows update to get the upgrade, instead I would recommend using this tool.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/

Obviously it is your choice to upgrade or not, but just remember, you don't have a lot of time to get it for free. On top of that, new PCs are gonna end up on Windows 10 for the most part, if yours ever craps out on you, and I mean the hardware.

Hope this informed you well.

~Deci

Does this mean Microsoft will stop trying to force their shitty OS onto me.

After July 29th, Yes.

Though I don't think its shitty, at least this version isn't. Trust me, when this thing first came out, it was buggy as fuck. In fact, I even beta tested this thing. The one I'm running now is possibly the most stable build compared to any other.

They also believe its an NSA monitoring device. If that were the case we would have been screwed since Windows 2000.

W10 is Malware, end of discussion. And I bet you that when July 29th rolls around, Microsoft is gonna make a comment like "Out of the kindness of our hearts, we'll extend the free upgrade campaign for another six months/up to another year." They are determined to infest one billion devices in the next 2-3 years with their malware and it would be in their advantage to do something like that.

I will NEVER have a W10 device. Ever. Microsoft is pushing their product on a brick wall and they need to give up. If I have to spend more money to stock pile CD keys of 8/8.1, so be it.

I normally don't like to agree with Das, but he's actually right this time.

That is by far the most retarded thing you have ever written. If Windows 10 is malware, this PC should have been fucked bone dry by now.

Clearly you've never actually had any REAL malware on your machine like I've had in the past. Real malware does damage, bad enough to the point where you may even need to clean install your entire OS if you're even lucky at that. The worst possible thing that can happen is if malware ends up accessing the BIOS and it flashes it. Then you are fucked. No clean install will ever save you from that happening.

From Wikipedia's article on Malware:

Quote
Malware, short for malicious software, is any software used to disrupt computer operations, gather sensitive information, gain access to private computer systems, or display unwanted advertising.[1] Malicious software was called computer virus before the term malware was coined in 1990 by Yisrael Radai.[2] The first category of malware propagation concerns parasitic software fragments that attach themselves to some existing executable content. The fragment may be machine code that infects some existing application, utility, or system program, or even the code used to boot a computer system.[3] Malware is defined by its malicious intent, acting against the requirements of the computer user, and does not include software that causes unintentional harm due to some deficiency.

Malware may be stealthy, intended to steal information or spy on computer users for an extended period without their knowledge, as for example Regin, or it may be designed to cause harm, often as sabotage (e.g., Stuxnet), or to extort payment (CryptoLocker). 'Malware' is an umbrella term used to refer to a variety of forms of hostile or intrusive software,[4] including computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, ransomware, spyware, adware, scareware, and other malicious programs. It can take the form of executable code, scripts, active content, and other software.[5] Malware is often disguised as, or embedded in, non-malicious files. As of 2011 the majority of active malware threats were worms or trojans rather than viruses.[6]

From their article on Adware, a specific branch of malware:

Quote
The term adware is frequently used to describe a form of malware (malicious software)[19][20] which presents unwanted advertisements to the user of a computer.[21][22] The advertisements produced by adware are sometimes in the form of a pop-up or sometimes in an "unclosable window".

With these clear cut definitions, how is W10 NOT Malware? It presents unwanted advertisements to the user of a computer, in the form of a pop-up or an unclosable window, it sneaks into your non-W10 computer without your consent and tries install its program (W10) onto your system with either implied-consent or no consent at all. Computer technicians even refer to it as adware, it's objectively malicious software.

This has nothing to do with the pros and cons of the OS itself (which I still believe is nothing more than hot garbage) but what Microsoft has done on W7 and 8 computers is clearly a form of malware.

I normally don't like to agree with Das, but he's actually right this time.

Yeah the upgrades through Windows update are a hit or miss. I would get magic jellybean key finder and extract your product key, then using the Windows Media Tool Kit, make a backup disc or have the files on a flashdrive to clean install it, this is suggested if you're having issues.

Also, backup all of your shit first before you do that. I cannot stress that enough.

And giving you the reasons isn't good enough because it isn't visual? From the link I gave above on how it's spyware:

Quote
Downloads itself to your machine without you specifically asking for it? YES
Aggressively attempts to install itself taking over your computer in the process? YES
Sends unknown and/or encrypted data to known and unknown third parties? YES
Sends personally identifying information to known and unknown third parties? YES
Easy to remove? NO

It follows all examples of TWO forms of malware and yet people continue to say it isn't malicious?

I need visual evidence for this. Just saying it doesn't mean its proof.

That website is highly inaccurate and I said visual evidence, this is again, someone else's dumbfounded opinion. If Microsoft was so eager to play the NSA's game, they wouldn't even need to develop a whole new OS for it.

Also. easy to remove being a no? Fucking lol. Its very easy to uninstall Windows 10 and go back to Windows 7, and its also very easy not to trigger the update to Windows 10 as well.

Its not my problem that people in this day and age are such massive computer illiterates and don't even bother configuring Windows update so it doesn't auto install each update, like I said, this can be avoided very easily if its that concerning.

With that said you might as well as argue that Windows 8 and 8.1 are also malware, since 10 isn't very different from 8 and 8.1 honestly.

FYI, I'm not on a consumer copy of Windows 10 and I didn't get it from Windows update, but regardless that website is nothing but full of bullshit. Not a reliable source.

Yes because the issues of users complaining about how it force upgrades them anyway is exaggerated? Even if you could remove these issues permanently, why should you have to do so in the first place? Microsoft is aggressively trying to push their OS on people with or without their consent, and on just that fact alone, it is malware. This is ignoring the other facts about it's malware properties like third party information gathering and sending, and advertisement pushing. Even outside this man's page it follows definitions of malicious software in both adware and spyware.

What visual evidence do you want? I don't have W10 on my computer and I'm running an unactivated version of 8.1 so it pesters me to use a CD key over everything else. Why do you need visual presentation when the universal definitions of adware/spyware are good enough?
