Is healthy living at the expense of happiness worth it?

We all die. That's an inescapable fact.

Now if you're one of those people who enjoy running marathons or whatever, this doesn't apply to you.

But if you're one of the ones who's unhappy going to the gym or eating healthy, and are only doing so because of a societal pressure too look a certain way, this does apply to you.

If you're going to die anyway, how do you want to face the end? Full of regret that you were unhappy trying to make your body something you didn't really care about or that you were basically happy most of the time?

Now, this line of thinking easily leads to surrendering to gluttony and hedonism. I'm not talking about that. It's a slippery slope fallacy to say if you die anyways, might as well eat the whole cake. I am saying that there's nothing wrong with having a slice...

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
I accept my mortality and endeavor to save money in death by being pre-enbalmed in whiskey.

Excuse me, I'm full of dog poison
I'm out of shape and I don't really care all that much. I still look decent and I'm pretty active so fuck having a six pack, unless we talking Guinness.

idk man, there's too much to consider here. Up until your 30s being strictly healthy doesn't have huge benefits, but it can help later on in life. Like making it to your 70s and being unable to perform basic movement without great strain vs being the same age and comfortably being able to keep your garden/chores in check independently.

I don't really see a benefit to being pro athlete-levels of disciplined for your whole life unless you actually love doing it. 30 minutes to an hour a day has the potential to help you in the long term, without a need to completely give up on drinking/indulgence foods.

I got whatever strength there was from working, since I had something to occupy my mind rather than "wow fuck I hate exercising." Same with some of the healthier foods. I didn't find them the most appealing taste wise. But if given them I'd eat them since I know there's parts of the world were people would probably kill each other over them.

Life's gonna have bumps. Technically you could say that a portion of your life is spent at the expense of happiness anyway. Just so long as you don't go into red zones of excess you'll do fine.

I met a guy who was athletic as fuck in his late sixties. Healthy as could be for his age, could probably put most 20 year olds to shame. He still ended up here.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Even balance.

If eating healthy allows me to drink unhealthy for longer, sounds like a fair trade.

Going full-on gluttonous will only make me apathetic to the pleasure and die quicker.

Who the fuck does this though? Charlie, is this you? Did you make a New Year's resolution and then give up on it because you couldn't go through with it?

Don't lie, you made this thread because you gave up on exercising and eating food that you consider to be healthy. This thread is your excuse for eating cake.
