There was one guy in the Army who did, but to be fair, I don't think he really knew what it was or what it celebrated. The more I think about it, I think he was just trying to celebrate being black.

That's because it's not a real holiday. It was created by some professor back in the 60s to give black people something different to celebrate  during the holiday season. As you can see it didn't really stick.
