David Benioff and D.B. Weiss stated that they're essentially going to follow the story arc of what Martin intended with a few deviations here and there (I think cutting out Euron, Victarion and Aegon isn't exactly a minor deviation but oh well). The books are basically going to become a novelization of the show with a few added details basically.

I was already pissed off with the White Walker episode in 4, but oh well..I'll just watch the series and know that the story arcs in the books will be much different.

Also had an argument with someone about Aegon, and they said he wouldn't "bring that drama" the show needs. Bull-fucking-shit. It'd be juicy enough drama for Dany to decide whether Aegon is real, a Blackfyre, or just a fake.

Well yeah, obviously. We've known this since the series started. There's no way they could delay the show to let the books trickle out. The producers know the ending, and I think we'll see it long before it's written in the books.

Well, GRRM said he had a plan for Qotho in the books, but Jorah off'd him in Season 1. Then they started killing all sorts of characters that still had parts to play in the books, changed Robb Stark's spouse, etc.

I think Aegon /will/ be a major player in the books. Looking at the photos on the site, I honestly think that in the show Trystane Martell is going to be revealed as Aegon. Look how fucking pasty he is compared to Oberyn, Doran, and the Sand Snakes.

theyll do fine. the source material isnt the holy grail of fiction, you know. theres a reason martin is letting them take such liberties; theyre going to the same place, and cutting out all of the unnecessary bullshit along the way to fit it for tv.
