Lol, studying civil and seeing how london is, i wonder the amount of shit they will have to go through both beaurucratic and legal to build it. Plus placing it into lines and not affecting the stability of the existing lines. Getting into london is going to be the hardest thing ever. Also the traffic jams it will cause. Though depends if they will bury it deep into the ground. I mean they will likely find a bunch of decrepit and old water lines that do not make any sense.

Actually according to the article it's already in London, and for the record, London is a lot more advanced than you think, most of the infrastructure is very well organised and rather new (All hail Boris Johnson)

Really, then i wonder when it was placed, and whose infrastructure they are using.

Well, BT takes care of all the stuff to the exchange, this hyperfibre is the bit between the exchange and the home, the part that BT  don't tend to upgrade often, which leaves most of us limited to no more than 40mbps at the very most, although they've recently had a breakthrough which will allow for 120mbps speeds on existing copper connections

I probably won't see myself having 1gig download for another 10 years :/.. (If I stay in this area)
