Or, conversely, we probably wouldn't be able to detect them either given their level of technological advancement. The Fermi Paradox relies on the completely unjustified assumption that, were aliens there, we should be able to detect them.

What got you into the whole nihilism thing and the whole "did you ask the baby if it wanted to be born" type of thing?
Quote from: BerzerkCommando on June 13, 2015, 10:54:28 AMWhat got you into the whole nihilism thing and the whole "did you ask the baby if it wanted to be born" type of thing?1. I'm not a nihilist, at all.2. There is no "did you ask the baby if it wanted to be born" thing. There's anti-natalism.I've been an anti-natalist for almost three years.
How did you get into that then?

What made you become vegan? When did you decide to denounce animal products from your life, and how do you approach grocery shopping?
Quote from: Kitsunekun on June 13, 2015, 12:07:03 PMWhat made you become vegan? When did you decide to denounce animal products from your life, and how do you approach grocery shopping?I mean, ever since I was little, I thought the fact that we killed animals just for our food was horrible, but I figured it was okay, because everyone else does it. Then I got smarter, and just used the excuse of, "Well, it would just be a drop in the bucket if I became vegan. Not to mention, some of my favorite food isn't vegan." But then I got over that, too.I made the decision over a year ago.Grocery shopping is much easier than you'd think. Much of what you don't buy is just common sense, and if there ever happens to be a food you've been buying that isn't vegan, it's simple enough to stop purchasing it and find a suitable alternative.
Is it more expensive to eat vegan? I ask because I'm a carnivore simply out of lack of willpower; I can't find a good ethical defence for meat-eating.

You just have to know where to go and what to buy. Don't buy packages that are suited for vegans--those are indeed more expensive. You can get fresh fruits, vegetables, and wheat products for dirt cheap. It also helps to have an open mind. Be willing to try new foods that you may not like. Soon, your options won't seem so narrow anymore.
What's your favourite vegan meal?
