But I guess in the end -- Sort of feels like everyday its harder to stay happy where you are. There are all these ways to look through the fence into your neighbor's yard.

Why even risk it? its safer to stay distant.

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
Why do people fucking care about their gender or wealth??

As far as I see it, i'll just call them whatever they wish to be called. He or she, or it.
If they're lying, woop de do. How much would it truly affect your life if some dude/gal on a forum was lying about their sex or gender?
Because if you go around making it a primary part of your persona like BC does with his car avatars and fairly routine threads, or just constantly mention it, then people will pay attention to it and wonder why won't you confirm this thing that you're always going on about being a significant aspect of your character?

Again, whether or not they're lying it doesn't make a fucking difference for you. Them being rich, gay, straight, female, male or whatever else doesn't contribute to personality.
Except it does make a difference in that they're either honest or deceiving you, which are also defining things of character.

You have to remember this is the internet, not you and the person lying sitting over a cup of coffee. People do a lot of things online that they would never do in reality. Whether or not you see them that way is your fault. To say someone's silly actions online reflects who they are in real life really is dumb.
If a person is willing to lie online where it's easy, then this will translate to their character outside the internet as well, maybe not as much but to some degree. If you think that your online persona is completely separate from you outside the internet, then you've either been RP'ing as a character the entire time and have worked meticulously to do so, or you aren't thinking about it enough.

However, that's not what I was referring to, as I meant that if they're willing to lie online about something that substantial to you then they're likely to lie about many other things online too.

Okay let me clarify something.

I'm not supporting the fact that people should lie on the internet, I just don't care enough about something I have no control over. The internet gives you this free will you don't have in real life, which lets some of your darker thoughts and tendencies come out.
But does that make them bad in real life? Nope. I could be a real asshole on here but still be a decent guy in real life.

I'm confused, are we still applying this to those who don't want to be outed/identified as trans individuals?
no, because that actually makes sense
class thinks that makes up the majority of people who lie--i don't think that's the case
I'd really like to know what gives you that ridiculous impression. As I said before, I'd guess some kind of trust issues. Catfishing exists, sure, but there has to be a reason to do it. Hanging out on a forum and talking isn't trying to garner anything, money or otherwise.

Nigs, do you read or just not give a shit? Because if it's the latter you can stop posting, and if it's the former I suggest you read.

It matters because it does hint at their offline personality(despite your claim it doesn't), if a person is willing to lie about a significant aspect of character they're predisposed to lie about other things, and despite their sometimes being valid excuses to lie not all lies are valid and can have malicious intent.

I'm reading just fine, and I answered that already. People have freedom online that they don't in reality, which means some of the darker parts of them show. Yes that is apart of them, but it does not fully represent them.
If someone is trolling online, they are doing it for fun or are just assholes.

The only one that I really can say can represent them is child pedophiles saying their kids or guys/girls playing someone else to lure unsuspecting people into a trap, online or offline.
However that situation is not as often as you think.

Which ultimately shows, that they are okay with fucking with others for fun and being assholes.

So, would lying and starting a debacle of drama not be bad? Would lying about your status to garner the attention of others not be bad? How about lying and getting people to side with you against someone else, and have them reprimanded for doing something? There are many scenarios where lies can create negative outcomes in a virtual community.

I am looking forward to it though. I joined here after hearing about it from some people, and intended it to be a joke and short lived. But ironically it's turned into a group I enjoy and a place I've made some friends, and learned quite a few things with some people who have some different thoughts and ideologies than me over in Serious (which is always interesting to see).

So hopefully I don't mess up too much.

It's still a lie, because you're not a girl yet you're pretending to be one. However, it's a justified lie. Not all lies are bad.

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.
So, would lying and starting a debacle of drama not be bad? Would lying about your status to garner the attention of others not be bad? How about lying and getting people to side with you against someone else, and have them reprimanded for doing something? There are many scenarios where lies can create negative outcomes in a virtual community.

A lot of people don't fully grasp that the words on their screen don't magically materialize from the ether and that there's somebody else on the other end of their digital conversation. Anonymity tends to do that. It's less out of malice and more out of the belief that nobody is really going to get offended since they can't actually see anyone to offend. A lot of those same people also want to seem more interesting than they really are, and the two go hand-in-hand.

Still a dumb thing to do though. And, yes, a lot of people do realize they're talking to someone and deliberately lie for any of the scenarios you listed, or just for shits and giggles.

Cindy and Fruit want me to see them as girls, so I refer to them as such and call them as such.
