I just put it on a random episode on Hulu and found one upside from the start. It was no longer so gross with gore and stuff. They downtoned it a lot which made it a lot more watchable. I thought it got better until I got to the episode "A Shot on the Dark". The premise was pretty much peter accidentally shoots Cleveland's kid and a whole race war breaks out. But there is one "gag" that made my skin crawl. Louis, as if out of nowhere starts beating peter nonstop, it isn't funny. Louis is yelling, and Peter is whimpering it is just uncomfortable. I guess it is a soap box moment but like it just felt wrong it didn't give a message it was just cringe worthy. I don't know if it is because it is a dying show but why was there not a larger buzz around this. I would think abuse victims would be pretty damn upset if they saw this. I know I was. If anyone else here has seen it what do you think of the episode?

Family was great the first like 6 or 7 seasons.  Now it is completely unfunny and rather cringy at times.  Hell, one of the episode's moral was that it is good to stay in abusive relationships. 

Watched season 12 since I got bored of Better Call Saul. The Simpsons episodes were pretty funny (the funniest the show has been in fucking years), and after that...it wasn't funny.  Ragequit after the 4th episode.

You must not be an avid Family Guy viewer. The whole joke is that, for the five hundreth time, Peter is off doing some zany, wacky, idiotic scheme. Throughout the whole show, Lois just takes it, just watches him, just lets him have his way. But fourteen seasons in, she just can't take it anymore and gives Peter the beating he's deserved for years.

If you think this is controversial or over-the-top in any way, you haven't watched Family Guy. Remember when they had an actual domestic abuse plotline? When Stewie tortured Brian to the point of burning him with a flamethrower? When there was literally a plotline where Peter tried to give Lois a miscarriage? Offensiveness is this show's bread and butter, the scene from Shot In The Dark was nothing.

No, dark humor is a pretty slim part of an average Family Guy episode. I just watch because the tropes they use match my sense of humor perfectly (flat whats are the best thing ever) and because it's more meta than Community sometimes. The video in the OP is one of those times, it's a pure in-joke for people who have watched the show since season 1. It's violent, but that's not dark humor. The examples I listed were dark humor, but I didn't list them because I liked those parts, just to show Whiteflame that there's much, much worse stuff in Family Guy than Lois taking her well-needed revenge.
