Distancing yourself from emotion isn't very difficult, but I would not recommend it. I've resorted to doing less than healthy things to remind myself I'm still alive as a result of it in the past.

I like doing things to take my mind off of this stuff. I'm not you, but perhaps this forum isn't the best solution. Does working out make you feel better? I know sometimes to take my mind off things I just need to do something so physically demanding that it saps me of thought.

I'd heartily recommend running or swimming or body weight exercises - it's the best kind of mind numbing activity you can do.

I've found an over the counter medication that works well when I get in a really bad state. It's codine with a relaxant. Makes me feel like I'm walking on clouds.
Only taken when I really need the pain relief though because it's apparently addictive.
