today in my psci class my prof went on a rant about how the media/the public cares so much about what celebrities think
he mentioned lebron james (as well as kanye west) and "why should we care what he thinks about poltics" and all that
I hope he isn't a trump supporter, considering he's literally an actor and reality tv star.
Anyway, these celebrities mean a lot to some people. I'm not that deluded to where I actually stalk a celebrity and care about everything they do, but some people feel this way. When you look at LeBron James, he's a role model to a lot of people. A poor kid from Cleveland who had such a transcendent talent he became the greatest athlete in the United States. I personally respect LeBron a lot, he really uses his platform to try and better our society. I don't know if there's an athlete who has ever done as much philanthropic work as he has, he's really done a lot for underprivileged kids. He's also a role model in that he's stayed away from controversies and married his high school girlfriend and is by all accounts a loyal husband and father. All this is to say that I think LeBron is a great person.
That said, that doesn't mean you have to agree with what he thinks. The problem is you have butthurt republicans saying garbage like "shut up and dribble" because they disagree with him. It's pure hypocrisy from right wing clowns, and Chris Long from the Eagles documented this blatant double standard
https://mobile.twitter.com/joel9one/status/964506954386345984?lang=enRepublicans will try to nullify your opinion if you disagree with them. If you worship racist old man dick like they do, you're in the clear. A celebrities opinion doesn't count any more or less than anyone else, but they have a right to speak it
