I can see now in retrospect that it really was serious, but it's still kind of cool how - actually no. It was able to realize that I was on a dangerous road, and knocked me out so that I'd roll down the hill.

Sure it left me scarred in a sense, but compared to how my mind was before the new me is much more likely to survive, looking at it from an evolutionary standpoint.

I'm trying to navigate some deep seated problems, and the only way I can do that is to consciously acknowledge scarring things and try to amend them or reverse the trends they set.
Doing so also brings up forgotten notions, and new scars seemingly form.
I think I can sort of see where you're coming from, but it's not from shutting down my mental processes as you earlier described. Despite the renewal of personal anguish I'm less likely to kill myself with each new thing I face.
