1) Fix Lex Luthor. In the comics he's a polished, intelligent and driven man. Not a knock off of Ledger's joker. Also, make his plan and objective clear. Aside from killing Superman, I really don't see what he was trying to accomplish.

2) Explain who characters are. The only two stories we know are Batman and Superman. The problem is we've had how nany franchises on these two? We already know. Explain out who Wonder Woman is. We know she's getting her own movie, but she's in this one. Any non-fanboy wouldn't have a clue who she is.

It's pretty obviously Wonder Woman, though. You have to give your audience a reason to give a shit about your character first before you explain who they are. The reason people like origin stories so much is because we already know what the character does, so we want to know more about them based on that. Expository information right out the gate is boring, and nobody wants that. Show me why I should care about this character first.

Wonder Woman could've used more screen-time, sure, but I think she was handled well overall.

Lex Luthor was terrible, though, yeah. Everything about him sucked, from his lack of clear motivation or objective and his terrible casting choice. And that hair.

Cut it down. The film went on half an hour too long; a lot of the stuff leading up to the big fight could have been cut/ shortened.

Oh, and turn the sound down. Maybe it was just the screen I was in but the film was uncomfortably loud at times. A lot of the doomsday stuff was unenjoyable to watch because of how loud it was.

Not much to work with tbh. The film needed a complete rewrite.

I'm trying to think of who would've made a better Lex Luthor.

I think Mark Strong looks the part.

Actually, no, I'm just now reading that the Lex in this movie is actually supposed to be Lex Luthor's son. Huh.

Um, why? Why not just go with the original guy himself? Why go with his geeky-ass son?

Yet again, another thing that would have been fixed with some character development

the broader plot points are fine & easy to work with. i could improve the movie by a lot but my version would be like an hour longer & have a lot more extended dialogue.

Excuse me, I'm full of dog poison
I felt that doomsday was unnecessary. The fucking movie is called Batman vs superman and their fight lasted 15 minutes.

Doomsday should have gotten his own movie imo, I don't buy the lex figured out all this shit from a ship plotline.

Had this been two movies with lex playing a much smaller role in this one it may have had a chance.

They were also pretty fucking unclear that he was Lex's son. I'm aware he stated it but is he the lex we know or is he the actual son of the lex we know. This is compounded by the fact that they shave his fucking head at the end (which they don't do in prison btw) and that we never see a picture of his father.

I think Zach lost focus and that this was two separate stories trying to be told at once to get the justice league off the ground sooner.

Hopefully this version of lex gets dropped and we get papa lex instead. You can keep the son around but don't make him a lead character.

There weren't a hell of a lot of glaring issues and they didn't ruin the movie for me, but fuck was this story mishandled.

Actually, it's called Batman v. Superman.

That's not being pedantic--I'm finally seeing why they titled it that way. The "v" is often used when describing court cases, like Brown v. Board of Education. It's more formal--dignified. Like a clashing of two ideals, two minds, rather than just a clashing of two physically powerful people. A "vs" would imply that the movie is just a straight-up brawl between the two characters and nothing else.

There's no other reason for it to be titled the way it was.

I neither fear, nor despise.
I'd cast Heath Ledger as Lex Luthor's son

That's interesting insight but my point remains. Doomsday was an unnecessary add on.

My only real gripes with the movie is the pacing and Lex, to be honest.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
I'm trying to think of who would've made a better Lex Luthor.

Seeing it this weekend with my family. Actually just got myself a Superman t-shirt and my brother a Batman t-shirt to wear for when we go.

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.
And that hair.

The hair was a reference to the hair he had in Birthright. Which is in itself a reference to the hair Lex had in his first appearance. It's actually pretty well-read on Snyder's part, not many remember Lex had hair.

Honestly I know nothing about Wonder Woman other than that she's an Amazon.

I think she really needed less screen time.

They should've revealed she was Wonder Woman and then brought her back at the end of the film to have her conversation with Batman.

If she hadn't been in the fight at all we wouldn't just be dealing with an underdeveloped character, we would have more of a setup for a character who is going to be expanded upon, just like every other member of the Justice League was in the film.

In fact, the battle with Doomsday probably would have been much more meaningful that way, if he just showed up during Batman and Superman's fight because. Lex had made a plan to unleash him separately from the conflict between the two heroes, and none of the shit with Martha ever happened.

So Doomsday shows up and they realize they have a responsibility to protect the world together, put their differences aside, and Batman is actually helpful because of his power armor.

Lex Luthor is blamed for Doomsday (because obviously it came from the Kryptonian ship) but he uses his great PR to brush it off as an accident and makes the claim that the beast slumbered there all along, and at the end goes free, allowing him to continue scheming and perhaps play a role in future stories.

No, in the canon his notable aliases are Lex Luthor Jr. but some stories change his father's name.

This is a common misconception that people have when they see the film and hear that his father built the company and was named Lex, but this, like the hair, is another example of Snyder nailing something from the comics.

Although the current canon has Lex building the company, this has not always been the case.
