PSU is always talking about how much kids learn from playing sports

but i've never seen him describe exactly what they learn

except for
- worthless bullshit
- stuff they could've learned anywhere else, doing something less stupid, wasteful, and harmful

Football > Academics

You literally learn all the important shit you need to know in grades K-8. the majority of highschool is just learning how to take tests.

You learn much more playing football than in the classroom.
God, get some new bait, the repeating record is almost Camnator level. At least I know I won't have to waste my time with your kid in my classroom.

You're right because my son is set up to attend the best private schools in my state. Your broke ass can't afford it.

Also, bait? What did you learn in HS that is more important than learning leadership, teamwork, and work ethic? Doubt it.
That's actually pretty irrelevant. Since you can have football without a stadium.

Investing in better equipment and a better stadium provides a better on field product. Attracts more kids, better coaches.
So would funding other programs in a school. You said it yourself, high school teaches how to take test, but that is because shit like this. Schools don't fund actual learning, they fund good grades, so the schools want you to make good grades. Maybe if that money was shifted to the actual learning then it would help with actual fucking learning. Football doesn't even teach any of that. It teaches patterns and athletics. That's it.

Wahhh I'm a loser who still lives with his parents so I'm going to make fun of a 4 year old child and call him retarded.

Literally all my son has to do is play highschool sports and he'll be more successful than you. Suck my dong.
You are going places friend.

Spoiler
just no where relevant

But I'm already at a much more relevant place than you.

 So where you at friend?
Australia. So enjoy Trump, or that robot.

Damn right I'll enjoy trump. He'll be our best president in history.

Enjoy getting kicked by kangaroos

other than worthless bullshit

Literally listed 3 huge things in work ethic, teamwork, and leadership.

All 3 are needed to be successful in the real world and playing sports helps to increase them. Being stuck in a math class doesn't.

Literally 70% of every dollar goes to my local highschool. Most of that goes towards academics and not athletics and I think that's a disgrace.

Money isn't the issue anyway, we literally throw billions of dollars at inner city schools and they still are terrible.

Like what?

You can't compare the teamwork of being on a sports team with the teamwork of working on a science project with an assigned group.

Them three things sure are good at making sure spaceships don't blow up or having better quality technology, don't they?

People like you are the reason we have to give kids a 55% minimum and push them into further grades.

65% minimum here.

Listen I love astronomy and space as much as the next guy. But do you learn anything that advanced in highschool? Not at all. You need a fucking doctorate to work at nasa.

We're talking highschool here, kids. Not adults. Kids need the discipline that sports provide.

As long as concussions are diagnosed correctly, there is minimal long term effect.

The big issue was people getting concussed and then going right back into the game.

Personally, I've never made that argument. Kinesthetic learning styles are important; however, wasting that much cash on a stadium, not even a college stadium, but a high school one, while teachers are paid based off of their school's scores is bullshit. Especially taking into consideration such things as a high prevalence of ELLs or being located in a lower socioeconomic area can cause that school to be low. It doesn't matter how great the teacher is with external factors like that.

It's not a waste tho. Investing in football is investing in those kids who would have no other shot at college otherwise.

Education isn't for everyone. Shit, I fucking hated school. It's a miracle that I was convinced to get a masters degree. Literally 18 years of hating school.

Kids do need discipline, I can agree there, but honestly man, the system is bullshit telling you from firsthand experience and seeing money go to a massive stadium like that when smartboards could have been provided to every teacher is bull.

What's a smart board going to do? Especially when half the teachers are too old to even know how to use them.

That's not how it works. You still have to make good grades. People don't just go to college play sports. The only thing a scholarship does is provide money.

You guys are fucking retarded if you don't think we need to be dumping copious amounts of money into high school football programs. This is why the football team goes on to become great successes while the math geeks end up dropping out of college and are stuck living in the "glory days".

I can't really recall sports ever helping me that much.

Doing science, on the other hand, kindled my interest in space and technology, which then led to computing and to what I want to do. Science has helped me more than sports has, and I think it's a subject that is incredibly underfunded as-is.
