Horseback riding is surprisingly fun

I wasn't planning on doing anything today and it's a beautiful day outside, so I figured I'd try something new instead of playing fallout all day...my mom has two horses and I've been around them since I was a little kid, but I had a bad experience with one of the horses charging at me and just grew a fear of getting near them >.>

But something clicked today and, well, I actually enjoyed myself. Horses are surprisingly docile for their size, more than I remember at least

So, moral of the story is to not let irrational fears get in the way of you trying something new :-)

AMA I guess, just felt like sharing this with my best buds

I'd walk up these hills around the ranch with this kid Timmy and we'd explore and shit. Probs coulda gotten eaten by some coyotes or some shit fam but it was fun

lmao I know that feel fam, my grandpa has a house upstate New York out in the woods and my brother and I would go exploring whenever we visited. Mom was always worried a bear or some shit would come after us but we never saw anything like that

I used to quite enjoy it, but after getting chucked off twice in a row (lol @ getting back on the horse) I don't think it would do my spine any good to try a third time.

The first time someone loosed a dog at the horse (thank you very much kind person) who bolted, I was trying to get off but my leg was stuck in the stirrup which ended up a bit like this scene from LOTR

The other time was the handler being a dipshit and stressing out the horse with a lunging crop. Horse starts juddering and tensing up, so I pop my feet out of the stirrups and get ready to land on my arse.

It was fun though, ever since we had to give the horses away it's not likely to be something I'll be doing again anytime soon.

(This was all like 10 years ago so)

o shit that seems painful, kinda glad i didn't ride with a saddle now that i'm thinking about that happening. i just rode with a bareback pad so my legs were hanging free. the horse i was on spooked one time while we were in the trails and threw me on the dirt, but i didn't get hurt or anything

It wasn't too bad, I don't think it really did any damage it was just a bit jarring.

Although I think it compounded my back injury from a few years before, in which courtesy of my own stupidity I ended up arsebones first onto concrete at a high velocity and boy howdy did that hurt. So probably best to not keep it up in the end either way >_>

Never rode without a saddle/stirrups though, that always seemed quite dangerous to me.

Almost got flipped out of a hay ride when the reins got caught in its legs. And then my mom's horse started bucking and I hit my face on the saddle.
