Hayden Christensen Ghost:



Pros:
- Allows Anakin Skywalker to appear as he did when he was not corrupted by the darkside
- People new to watching Star Wars (especially children) get to see their hero from the PT and The Clone Wars to return.
- Allows the possibility for him the appear in later films
- Audience can easily identify the character

Cons:
- Takes screen time from a previous filled roll
- Anakin Skywalker is never seen wearing those Jedi robes in all his time in the PT
- Luke would not have recognized this version of his father physically, but probably could through the force

Sebastian Shaw Ghost:



Pros:
- Keeps the actor who played Vader when he died.
- Luke would more likely be able to identify him as Anakin physically

Cons:
- Does not allow Anakin  the potential to appear on screen in future movies
- May confuse the audience to who the character is (although unlikely)
- Keeps the form of who he was when he was corrupted by the darkside

I like Hayden better, due to the fact that it allows Anakin to maybe show up in future projects. Plus, I know from showing my nephews that it makes the kids happy to see young Anakin again.

The excuse George gave was that the ghosts embodied the light side of the force. Since when Vader died, his Sebastian Shaw body was still corrupted by that darkside. Him killing the Emperor redeemed him, but didn't throw out all his darkside power. It's like when you take someone off meth right after they took a dose. They don't have it anymore, but they are still effected by it.

So his true embodiement of the lightside would be right before Revenge of the Sith, when he looked like Hayden.

I like the Hayden version more.

The problem with Hayden is this.

Why the fuck is he so special?

Why doesn't Yoda or Obi-Wan get to return to their younger selves? I mean think about it. Anakin is all young again but gets to hang around all day with his master, and yoda, who both stay ancient.

That's the definition of awkward even more beyond "Oh hey master, sorry for killing you."

Then Anakin is still being a prick by being the odd one out.

In the context that George was using, I don't see how a slightly angry Anakin is worse than an Anakin that killed hundreds of Jedi and innocents, laid waste to multiple planets, and was consumed by the darkside, but okay. Just because he killed the Emperor didn't make him good. I bet you if he survived, he would still have the tendency to choke a bitch for getting in his way. You don't just rid yourself of the darkside like that.

Outside of that context though, yeah I guess, but now we can have Anakin in more movies.

But he was redeemed at the end of ROTJ, hence why he's even there.
Throughout the later seasons of TCW he chokes people, exhibits intense jealousy, etc.

Meh. He's less shitty as Anakin than he was as Vader. He was still shitty. My question is, why is Anakin even there?
Did he learn it somehow, because it's a taught skill as we learned in The Clone Wars. Or does he just get a free pass because he's The Chosen One? He's heading to Obi-wan's shack on Tatooine in the next issue of Darth Vader, so maybe we find out there.

Oh, thought it was the next one. Either way, I hope we find out. Maybe there'll be a "do this combo to make yourself younger" type thing that Obi-wan and Yoda didn't want because they're too modest.
