The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.
The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.

I wouldnt say its all garbage, most of it is low effort pandering and mediocre.
Youre kinda right about watching anime to find a good one. Ever since NGE i jumped on the seasonal wagon in hopes of finding something that makes me feel like i did when i watched NGE.
Thats asking a lot though and i still havent found that feel.
But you haven`t watched Texhnolyze yet, right?
