Oh, hey.
That's always been a place I've wanted to see, I've heard amazing things. But, is it sketchy or scary? I know that is a pretty ignorant thing to say because it's in the Middle East, but it's an honest question. Also what is there to really do/experience

Not saying I'm going to go there any time soon, mainly curiousity

If I went to Dubai I'd probably be arrested for vagrancy.

The city seems nice enough, absurdly expensive though <.<

My godmother lives/works out there. As long as you play by the rules then you won't end up in the shit, but if you do go there don't make the common mistake a lot of tourists from the west do and drink outside of the westerner areas. It might have changed since then and I think all that money is loosening the place up but yeah >.>

It's basically a playground for the absurdly rich built in the middle of the desert.

Do they have absurd laws or if you act like a normal human being you should be fine?

Depends how you define absurd <.<
The country itself is a fairly conservative islamic one, so I would expect to see religious laws there. I'll check the foreign office site for the details >.>

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
You can go skiing.

Hmm...that's probably something I should know. That is strange though, I would expect some leniency in some areas.

Beautiful city though.

In some regions it is <.<

OP: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/united-arab-emirates/local-laws-and-customs

I know it's a britbong site but give this a read if you plan to visit, it basically gives you the information about any local laws that you might run into conflict with.

If I went there, I would probably end up dead or arrested. I mean, have you seen the types of cars people have abandoned there? It's messed up, here's just a sample:

That's a Ferrari F40 if you didn't know. Such a shame.

Yep. There's a lot of photos of like Enzo's and such being completely taken by the sand. It's very sad

My Grandad has been there on business plenty enough.

Pretty strict Islamic law on the streets
No alcohol
No Arabs, it's nearly empty and almost everyone there is from India or the west
Your car would look as average as a Ford Mondeo
Everything is very pricey

Overall apparently there are much nicer places

Comparing Dubai to South Beach is like comparing Gold and Silver. Both are pretty awesome, but one is obviously better then the other
