Has anyone else given up on watching movies?

I'm generally unenthused with regards to movies these days. Combined with the fact I don't have TV so I don't see commercials, plus adblock so I don't see them on the internet, I pretty much don't hear about upcoming movies.

Occasionally watch something on Netflix, but that's about it.

Mainstream movies have been such a letdown lately. For every Martian or Interstellar you have 4 crap comedies, 6 comic movies and 10 unnecessary remakes.

Unless it's uploaded free somewhere I don't have to dig for, I don't watch movies. Most of my movie viewing are those ones people upload on youtube with slightly edited filters that survive a month or two. I'm still incredibly interested in cinema though.

The decline in quality is real, too. I have a hard time justifying $15-20 on a movie ticket when it's a gamble on quality.

This year I've gone and seen Kingsman: The Secret Service, Mad Max: Fury Road, Jurassic World (Twice, once by myself and then once with family) and The Martian

All of them were enjoyable movies, although Jurassic World was probably my least favourite out of them

Fury Road was excellent, The Martian was pretty good, and I'm excited for The Force Awakens.

Really, you just have to keep up with recent releases and check out what people think of them. Generally it's hard not to hear about good films.

OT: I only watch movies occasionally now, the forms of media I stick to are dwindling away progressively.
I don't even watch much anime anymore... Or more like right now, anyway.

Perfect Blue was a really good movie though. You should definitely watch it.

I've given up on gaming for the same reasons, but I still go to the theatre every weekend.

There's plenty of good movies out there, you just need to know what to watch. But I could see how only the AAA movies have been a let-down.

I hear about stuff thanks to some YouTube shows I watch. Also, people here often discuss hype around some upcoming movies or their impressions of a movie they saw recently in the cinema. What I no longer watch is TV. I don't know what series are out there and what new 'talent' show is on.
