Halo 4's soundtrack is the best one.

Marty had some good songs but he's a pretty shallow composer overall

getting rid of Davidge was a mistake, the only problem with the game's soundtrack was it's usage.

I find only 2 songs appealing in H4.  H2 and H3 by far have better soundtracks

that's because you want a bland soundtrack that invokes heroism and bravery with an overabundance of string and percussion, rather than a thematic and layered soundtrack that fits the darker tone of the new trilogy

halo 4's soundtrack is not only technically more impressive, it also suits its game far more than the other ones did. reach is pretty close, though.

yeah, kinda

i also think that halo 4's soundtrack is criminally underrated, because the halo fanbase has a pretty narrow and childish understanding of music.

seriously the halo 3 soundtrack is just 17 different interations of older songs, with varying degrees of certain instruments

I'm sure it's all well and good, and in all honesty I thought 4's soundtrack would've have worked much better for Mass Effect than ME2 onward did.  The issue arises in that by the time 4 rolled around, Halo had and identifiable, iconic sound pioneered by Marty.  Not every track was a hit, and hell the series even lost some of it's synth sounds from CE.  But there's a sound and style to Halo, even Halo Wars mostly had it, that was lacking in 4.  It's a case like Dark Souls II, it's a bad Souls game, but not necessarily a bad game.

i just think that's a dumb argument, because all you get when you try to copy the "halo sound" is generic bullshit. the new trilogy has a very different style than the old one (in that it was supposed to be actually good) and the soundtrack fit it better than any of the other games did.

One Final effort is good, and most of 3's is good tonally for the game, but my issue with three is that it's mostly reiterations from 2, which I preferred more.  Also not a huge fan of how 343 redid the tracks for the anniversaries, either

you really are just trying to start shit at this point
Of course a game in a series should keep its sound.  It can evolve over time, but compare ME to ME3.  They're wildly different, but ME at least had its own identity whereas ME3 was the definition of generic.  The music of Halo was different with each game but still constrained enough to be identified with Halo as a series

I think it's unmemorable.

I can hum a tune to Halo 3, Reach, even ODST, but I can't remember shit about Halo 4.

the problem is, "halo sound" is so dubious that it makes no sense to try and follow it, and all you get is marty ass lickers that try to copy him. as a result you get generic bullshit like the halo 5 soundtrack.

4 had some great tracks, happy they kept the tune of sorts for 5

But I haven't really cared for Halo music, something about it just doesn't click with me

ODST certainly is the closest of close seconds for me

Speaking of ODST, take a listen to this, Marty's last soundtrack from Destiny. Sounds very ODST doesn't it.

Problem is the soundtrack from 1 to 3 had an emotion that fit with the game. The fourth one although good, is not memorable.

Remember technicality is not always better, sometimes simple and recognizable is better for a setting.

5 sounded nothing like og Halo.  Spartan Assault sounded more Halo
