The baby boomers: here again, descriptive. The greatest generation had a lot of kids.

Generation X: also, descriptive. X is undecided, in need a a unified trait.

Generation Y: the letter that follows X.

Except that no one uses letters to catalog generations

because we gave them stupid, subjective names instead

"greatest generation" is debatable, don't use it to officially classify a group of people that weren't so great
