No one else triggered by dual wielding Arthur Dayne?

I mean, it's like the writers are 15 year old weebs.
As opposed to the ACTUAL scene where he wields a magical sword crafted from a fallen star.

Yeah, the show's version is way more childish..
Yeah it is actually. There was really no point in actively disregarding the source material other than to make the scene look extra kewl and cater to normies impressed by flashy fight scenes.
They had to make Dayne give a lasting impression, which would have been pretty impossible to pull off with him fight 4 guys at one time with one sword without a LOTR-esque fighting scene

You can also do that without having him dual weld like an autistic anime character.

Also, what oath was broken?
Jon's?

Even though he technically didn't break it, but still.
Well....it broke when he died....which he did.

"broken" wouldn't be what I would describe it as

If his oath was to serve until his death, could it be considered "resolved" or "fulfilled"?

Well it was, in that life he did serve it until his death....it's a loophole I don't think anyone really would have considered, because resurrection is madness.

So

Can anyone explain to me what Arya is going through?

She looks like she's becoming a blind warrior, but then the Faceless Man gave her eyes back.

The hell?
I'm guessing the blinding was a punishment for killing someone she wasn't supposed to, and for ignoring what they were teaching her for a whole season.

She's being prepped for becoming a faceless man. That's what all the training is for. To do that she has to let go of her identity.

I'd also argue that being able to fight without relying on vision (For example, in a dark tunnel or at night) and even navigate in low-light (As would be expected of assassins) would be an important skill to have. I thought the waif getting pissed off towards the end of her training montage was pretty funny, though.

OT: Overall meh episode. Not good, not bad, just boring and inconsequential. Christ, I hope they don't try and shoehorn dorne into Aegon's plotline. The scene with Tommen and the Sparrow was cool, and cleganebowl is fucking confirmed. I'm still wondering when/ if they'll do the pink letter. I'm guessing they're not bringing mance back, but I could see the show just threatening the night's watch to submit by Umber's news about the Wildlings, using Rickon as a hostage, leading Jon to rally the wildlings for bastardbowl. IIRC, you can see the umber banners in the trailers on Jon's side, though I could be wrong.

I'm disappointed, though not surprised with Rickon. Introducing Skagos now would require reintroducing Stannis (I mean, I'm guessing he took Deepwood Motte from the Ironborn) then sending Davos off to Whiteharbour (Is that two words?), and considering they said they can wrap everything up in 13 episodes (Said before S6), that would require another season at least.

Speaking of the Ironborn, >tfw no euron

Their watch ends upon their death, resurrected or not he died, so his watch ahs ended.

I doubt they ever thought of this scenario so

That whole fight scene was appalling.

The greatest swordsman who ever lived flails around like a dying trout and the mob of veteran soldiers fought with the coherency of a brawl in a town centre.

The hound's chicken chimpout was a better fight than that twaddle.

How do you expect them to appear coherent when fighting the "greatest swordsman who ever lived"?  I thought the fight scene was pretty fucking badass, it needed to almost unbelievable to put into perspective how good he was.

There is being put off by a tough opponent and flailing at him in a mess.

There was no technique, no tactic to it. Just wail on him and make a big clangy show of things for the camera.

Do you ever watch two unevenly matched pro sports teams playing? Both train extensively and dedicate most of their lives to playing said sport, but when they meet in the field the better team makes the other look like children. Same here. It's hard to have tact, keep your composure and not look like a flailing mess of a child when you're up against something or someone several leagues ahead of you.

Which would have been fine if Dayne actually seemed threatening in the fight, he just came off as trying too hard.
Two full length swords are pretty impractical to fight with and it really showed in the way he was handling them.

The thing with being trained with weapons though, is that you aren't meant to turn into moms spaghetti the minute someone 'better' than you is trying to kill you.

YouTube

2:18 - spinning and clanging his swords together
Looks cool but it's a good way to damage the edge on your swords

2:43 - his back is wide open and the guy stands there like a lemon

2:45 - more spinning
again, good way to get disarmed by having a silly showboating grip on the weapon rather than a solid hold and stance

2:50 onwards - ayy lmao
Hammering the blades together like that looks and sounds cool, but it's just going to fuck up the blades

The bit where it goes to 1 v 1 wasn't too bad, but overall it was just a whole lot of flashy nothing

If he'd had one sword and just cut down everyone who came at him, one by one with some nasty efficiency then that would have been perfect. Instead he faffs around with two making a big dance of it and it just comes off as amateur.

This is fairly relevant too

I saw this a couple of months back and well

YouTube

That's kinda why the dual wielding just looked daft to me when it was on the other night, it's not really that effective (with two swords).

I personally enjoyed the fight sequence. It's not like taking style over substance is a new thing for the show. I don't think any of the main characters have ever used helmets or shields in battle.
