Can you buy them like that or do you have to convert it over to be one? I was wondering because next year I was thinking of getting one and since you can't hunt with semi's in PA. I'm going to get a bolt action one to target shot with and hunt with.

then there should be uppers and bolts for sale to do it. Check around cali gun forums, since this seems like a thing they would do out there as a middle finger to the state legislature.

It's simple. Get the Straight pull action upper and a barrel with no gas port and no gas block and no gas tube.

Technically any AR with no gas port drilled in the barrel is a straight pull action gun.

Company that makes straight pull AR uppers Go from there.

Meh, outside of the areas where that's the only legal way to own an AR, it doesn't do much for me.

I'd go for a more traditional .223 bolt gun.
