I feel the same, and when you do hear news that members did pass away I actually get sad. Sure I never knew you, but the person was a familiar "face". I think that's just being human. And at times since the community was so small, everyone did matter. The eventual leaving begs a lot of question and a lot of time you will never know why or what happened. Just the mystery that encompasses being anonymous.

I certainly care for the wellbeing of members of this site. Whether I had invested a lot of time or not, I still would.

But, really, it all comes down to how much people want to share. Even I don't bleed my guts out completely all over the forums. And there are people here that I still hardly know after all this time.

It all depends on what you can share amongst each other, and what you're willing to share with somebody you figure is interesting enough to bother with.

Sometimes I feel shitty about it because I bump into people or step on them accidentally here because I don't know them. I don't know what to watch out for or avoid, or what not to bring up. Or, I don't know what to say that would be relevant to them.

But it's always good to remember that you can't be friends with everybody. Nobody can. The people who feel like sharing with you, will share. All there is to it.

I'd put real life interaction to be more honest.

It's because I intimidate people (I won't divuldge why I intimidate people, because it isn't exactly factual and sort of makes me look conceited), so people don't feel like they can be honest with me.

On the internet, no one is intimidated by me, and it feels like a safe-haven for the intellectually honest.

Of course if people were honest with me IRL than I'd prefer it.

From what I gather you seem decently stable headed. Probably enough that you wouldn't end up doing anything to yourself.

Plus, it's easier to talk to people on the internet about personal problems than in person. You don't have that judging feeling on you, and plus, who gives a shit? It's not anyone that will affect your life in any real way other than words on a screen.

I think it's kind of cool that you can have a big group of anonymous friends interacting every day. It's like your relationships are based entirely on each other's personality instead of your situation, class schedule, job, or social group.

Considering letting people know things about you online ends up with people stalking you or hunting you down, there's really no value in sharing personal matters online.

I learn a lot about people on here from talking to them on skype daily. Like it's really funny the little things I associate with members on here in real life. I usually smile to myself, maybe snap a picture to show them later in private, and keep moving because no one else irl would understand. I've tried explaining things to my fiancé and he just gives me a weird look like "I don't know what the hell youre going on about". I really do cherish the bonds made on this site. It's a special thing not everyone has.
