It depends on the time of day. At night, the sun would be at an extreme disadvantage.

the sun could just come back the next morning and take them by surprise

In the jungle, the lion sleeps tonight.

This rules out any sneak attack during the night, which means that an all-out battle would have to take place while both are able. From dawn, until dusk.

...

This will be a bloody massacre.

Real talk though, not counting outer space and the fact that it's the fucking sun, the mass of our beloved star is 1.988 x 10^30 kg.

Assuming the average mass of 1 lion is 399kg, the mass of 1 trillion lions would amount to 1.5 x 10^14 kg

It's not even close, the lions would be vaporized - this isn't counting the fact that they're in space.
