The thing that really sucks about Pennsylvania's flag is that unless for whatever reason someone happens to know a bunch of states' coats of arms you can't just look at it and be like "yup, that's definitely Pennsylvania's flag.  Why it was never redesigned, I don't know. It's really not a great flag. The state seal just does not make for a good banner. Now the keystone, that's fucking readily identifiable, easily recognized, and is basically just the unofficial symbol for the state, featured in the names of all kinds of Pennsylvanian institutions and businesses and of course as the insignia of the 28th ID and the Pennsylvania Army and Air National Guards.
Why our flag isn't something more like this annoys me.

The thing you have to know about state flags is that most are fucking awful. The only ones that don't have shit flags are New Mexico, Colorado, California, South Carolina, Arizona, Tennessee, Maryland, Alaska, Texas, and Hawaii.
That's 10 out 50.

how do I add more than 3 colors or change up the shapes or add shapes or whatever

The most colors you can have without adding overlays (the shapes) is 2 or 3, depending on what division you choose. However if you add shapes (overlay section) you can have more colors. You can also change the grid size which will allow you to have more control over the size and position of shapes. I hope this helps.
