I Dont like it. it would better without the tattoos

Looks way too intentionally crazy, imo. Part of the Joker's charm was that he never cared about what others thought of him. Tattooing "damaged" on his forehead and "hahahaha" on his chest and arm? That's just trying too hard to portray him as crazy and doesn't fit with the character.

Anybody who willingly lets someone cut off his face isn't particularly subtle about their insanity.

The difference is that Joker didn't allow that to happen to this face because he wanted to show off his insanity.

That's exactly why he did it. He was trying to show Batman that there isn't anything sane or good hidden behind the bleached skin and the cracked teeth, no matter how much Batman wishes there was. There's just more madness and evil. It was absolutely an expression of how insane he is.

Having a tattoo saying "damaged" on his forehead simply screams "look at how insane I am!", which isn't something I feel like the Joker would do.

Keep in mind, this is an entirely new Joker envisioned by an entirely different writer - or rather, director. Even this adaption works, since the Joker is a fluid character; he can be interpreted in a multitude of ways, and all of them make sense in regards to who the Joker is.

In this case he seems to be a tattooed bastard as opposed to a creeping clown. Leatherface as opposed to Hannibel Lecter, if you will.

The face, the scars, the clothing and so on all show that Joker just doesn't care and does whatever his insane mind feels like, completely irregardless of what impression it would give to others.

He wears a purple suit and proudly displays his chalk-white skin precisely because he wants people to notice him. Or just Batman to notice him. In the comics, one explanation for why his character varies so frequently between stories is because he changes his personality, his methods, his mindset every so often, so each encounter he has with Batman is new and fresh and not at all like the previous battles. Consider this portrayal one such personality switch.

The only thing I don't care much for is the "HAHAHA" tattoos. Like, that's something a Joker fanatic would get a tattoo of--not the Joker himself. But I mean, other than that, I think he's passable.
