Verb can you explain to me why nihilism is bad

I'm not in support of it in any way, but I feel like I don't understand enough to support anti-nihilistic views and would like to learn

In a nutshell, nihilism is a dangerous belief that, when fully consummated, strips you of all your morals, responsibilities, and any sense of duty or good will whatsoever. When you concede that nothing in the universe matters, you have to own that--everything you do for the world and its people is rendered meaningless. The only thing that matters, according to the nihilist, is himself.

You could reconcile wanton murder, theft, rape, torture, genocide--as long as you get something out of it, it's all okay.

You'll find that most people who identify as nihilists aren't murderers or rapists or thieves, however. They may claim to be ideological nihilists who are still owned by their biological, psychological desires--but the thing is, under their beliefs, they could commit all sorts of atrocities--and that's what's scary about it.

Anti-nihilists such as myself argue that life does have intrinsic meaning and value, given the prevalence of sensate organisms who are capable of feeling pain and pleasure. Because we experience negative sensation, it would be in our best interest to minimize, curtail, and diminish it in any and every way that we can. It would be in our LEAST interest to perpetuate it.

To a nihilist, none of that matters. Suffering doesn't matter. Pain doesn't matter. We're all going to die anyway--so it doesn't make a difference.

The flaw in this reasoning is that it's bereft of compassion, selflessness, and most importantly, forethought. They do not take into account that, when people die, that doesn't mean everyone else does. Life will continue to exist for many, many centuries, regardless of how many people die today--and it's our duty, morally, to protect them.

In a sentence: Nihilists are dangerous because they have no sense of ethics.

Verb, is anyone a true nihilist, by your definition?

Even history's biggest monsters thought they were acting on behalf of unborn generations.

Yeah, exactly. No, I don't think anyone could ever go "full" nihilist. We're biologically hardwired to care about our fellow man--or at least, like-minded individuals (see: tribalism). Nihilism is a very inhuman philosophy that would essentially require you to escape the human condition entirely in order to fully consummate.

The closest thing to a nihilist on this planet is a bug.
