What do you like about them? What do you dislike about them? Will you ever own one?

I see more and more Tesla's on the road during each passing year which made me curious.

Signature goes here.
It’s interesting to see the people who shilled them as the vehicle of the future 15 years ago suddenly flip and silently say nothing about their trending growth today.

Apparently there isn't the resources in the world to replace our current cars with them, so they seem a bit like luxury items.

Frankly I'd like to buy a horse.

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
Seem mostly fine to me, although I don't trust self driving features much yet. That recent vid of a Tesla randomly slamming brakes on a highway and causing an 8 car pile up reinforces that for me.

They definitely need to solve the issues with batteries though. Lithium and cobalt mining aren't exactly green and sustainable the way people like to treat EVs as.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.

ain't the greenest thing ever, yeah, but after about a year and a half of driving, an average EV had now broke even with an average ICE vehicle in terms of total emissions from everything that went in to making it and keeping it running and it's only going to get better from there.

We do gotta figure out something better than LIon's though. I keep seeing all these articles this winter about teslas not charging in subfreezing temps and ranges being cut down to like, a third of what it should be and I'm just like , well yeah, haven't you people ever worked with power tools in the winter before? The cold fuckin kills your batteries bro.

i kinda like them. i could definitely see myself owning one, but maybe someday when the technology is even better, or if they havent been outclassed already, by, say hydrogen powered vehicles

i appreciate that theyre quiet, i fucking despise loud, annoying, wannabe racers with their fast & furious cars

Well, I'm poor and I live in a shithole that's frozen for eight months of the year, so no, I won't own one.

Only time I ever rode in one was with a client I got friendly with through a contractor working on his house and boat. He had an early days hybrid. Electric for most things, but ran on gas once the battery needed to charge. The thing had a stupid amount of acceleration to it and it always just felt weird to see the thing start moving without a sound.

Honestly though I don't think there's much that's "green" about them because they don't address the actual problem of pollution. Manufacturing batteries is a dirty process and we don't have decent containment methods for the waste of production.

A big chunk of the electric charging stations run on electricity created through burning coal or other shit. Real green, that.

And long term, EV's aren't viable because the materials to make the batteries won't be around forever. Depending on the battery type, you're looking at shit that's once it's extracted, it's gone for good. A little bit like the klondike gold rush.

A lot of our industries are going to either collapse or downsize considerably in the coming decades, which will cut into the methods and materials used to make them. Currently, I think EV's belong with the rest of current green tech trends.

They're a sham, and a good conman's get rich quick scheme playing to the market without solving any of the problems. That is unless somebody streamlines them.

If you know, you know.
Still driving my 08 ford focus mk2.
My father (who lives in iceland, where electricity is dirt cheap) had a hybrid (which he barely topped up with fuel, 90% of the time drove it in E mode) and now bought a 100% EV. He definitely prefers evs.

I want one just so I don't have to worry about oil changes, timing belt changes, fan belts, spark plugs, exhaust hinges and any other parts that come with having a combustion engine.

Money is the issue at the moment. cars are expensive and doubly-so for EVs. The affordable ones (Nissan leaf) are pig ugly. I'll wait for the second-hand market to get more stock.

Hmm...
I own a hybrid (Volt) and love it. It's cheaper than gas and more convenient to charge it at home rather than have to stop and get gas. I only really fill up on gas like... 5-6 times a year lol. Driving around my city is generally on all electric.
