alright, allow me to explain to you why that mindset is wrong.

while it may be true for some people that only doing one of the drugs you listed once is okay, there are plenty of others who have fucked themselves by just doing them once. wanna know why? because those substances trigger a reaction in the body that makes you crave more. cocaine and heroin are both extremely addictive drugs that get people hooked even from their first time, ecstasy messes with your natural serotonin levels and produces feelings of intense depression once the effects of the drug have worn off, which leads people to take more of it, and PCP is just plain retarded imo, but it's known to cause cravings.

on the other hand, cannabis, psyilocybin mushrooms, LSD, and other similar drugs aren't explicitly addictive and, in regards to shrooms and LSD, practicing moderation is completely safe. it is absolutely possible to practice moderation with harder drugs that are proven to not fuck up your life, it shouldn't be a blanket term that covers every single drug.

while you can come back and say that people can crave the latter substances too, it's simply not the same thing. there are absolutely no side effects from ignoring those cravings, unlike the drugs listed earlier whose withdrawal symptoms hospitalize people everyday.

It's just not how I'd phrase it. If I wanted to make it clear that I'd never use drugs, I would say it like this: I will never use drugs.

I wouldn't say "I don't plan on it," because that implies the possibility. You see the difference.

A friend's vape that was still had nicotine-juice in it after I smoked a joint.

And don't even try to backtrack by saying "you smoked pot though", that wasn't my point of contention. It was directly concerning "all kinds of shit", as if I just pop pills and smoke everything under the rainbow.

I don't believe life can be lived to a decent degree of thrill, excitement, and happiness without dabbling in some questionable or risky activities here and there. Of course, that isn't to say I condone usage of hard drugs like coke, heroine, or any of that shit, but smoking weed, drinking, or taking a shroom every now and then isn't going to do anything particularly harmful (There seems to be a surprisingly large number of people in this thread misinformed about the neurological consequences of psilocybin- There really aren't any). I don't consider any one of these activities particularly stupid in their own right, it's generally a matter of the company and environment that they're combined with.

Risk something no activity is truly free of. There are always chances of horrendous consequences in any sort of action you decide to take. The important aspect of living freely, and with a bit of room for "Experiencing" what the world has to offer, is accounting for the variables that could lead to a bad outcome, and making a judgement. Regarding weed... I can't think of many things that could go wrong in my case. I smoke maybe once every two or three weeks, and it's always in the company of other people, generally in a secluded dorm room with no greater chance of injury than if we weren't high to begin with.

Partaking in these sorts of things is always paired with the chance of a nasty consequence, but that chance is very minimal. The situational capacity for a wrong turn is the same if I go on a roller coaster, go skydiving, or even take a trip down the road to buy a salad. But through self-limitation, responsible company, and infrequency, there's really nothing to be afraid of. I understand Verb's very cut-and-dry argument of "It's stupid, you shouldn't do it," but thinking that philosophy through, it's applicable to practically anything. I don't want to live my life in a box made of industrial steel.
