You mean Goku's delts? I can see that, but I'd chalk that up to perspective as well. It looks like he originally planned to spread the cast out further behind Goku (judging by the left side alone), but then he fucked up and drew everyone on the right (except Roshi) on the same line as Goku.

It's still pretty awful for official art.

EDIT: And also what the fuck is going on with Goku's pecs?

After 128 we got a VERY optimistic NEP for 129, showcasing up-and-comer Hirotaka Nii's BRILLIANT emulation of classic Dragon Ball. Here's a few examples of his recent art:

Then just now, Toei released another preview of 129 coming out next week (pretty standard during big episodes with a week in between) and we got Yamamuro's "correction":

Fuck this man. He leaves the show during the most dreadfull ill-produced portions where they could actually use him only to come in and "correct" more talented animator's work during the climax of the series. There's a chance that Nii's art will be the final cut version but to me, I can't see them TWO versions of the same shot, one released a week after the other. It seems far more likely that the draconian, talentless hack who is known for shitting on his subordinate's work come in at the 11th hour to put his name on something truly special.

I try to maintain my composure where Yamamuro is involved, because the internet does like to exaggerate quite a bit (especially the Dragon Ball community) but god DAMN this time I'm exceptionally heated. This is worse than the blur on Naotoshi Shida's Battle of Gods cut. Almost as bad as the entirely redrawn Eguchi cut from RoF. I hope to God it's just a fuck up at Toei.

all but confirmed that the new preview image is the correction. it looks slightly better in hd, but it's completely lacking the intimidation and dynamic art the original had. i don't care if it's more correct, anatomically -- it looks worse.

It ends on Episode 131. They could totally contrive a new enemy though, it didn't stop them after Frieza when they effectively made Goku the strongest in the universe.

i'd be more interested in following up timebreakers or even moving past goku's story to the next generation with goku taking the mentor role. sort of like hiruzen from naruto.

yeah. sometimes it's just okay to exaggerate anatomy for dramatic effect. not everything needs to be perfectly accurate.

yeah, i know what you mean. i still have old dvds with kelamis's voice as goku. its a trip and a half.

i think schemmel's voice suits the character more, but kelamis is far and away the better actor
